It seems as if everyone's walking around this historical day in a smiling daze. I think they're just tired from celebrating, as I've seen lots of yawning midtowners on the sidewalks of Manhattan.
On my way to 34th Street, I passed lots of people reading the headlines:
In Bryant Park:

In Herald Square:

So where does an American shop on such a monumental day? At a monumental store, of course, like
Macy's Herald Square, now celebrating its 150th anniversary. They've even got their own street sign up till mid-November (left, well done,
Jeffrey!). Happy birthday, Macy's!
But to celebrate properly, I need one of these anniversary dresses from the window display. If I was Mrs. Macy I'd wear the big skirt to the inaugural ball. Oh, I can't wait for inaugural ball designer talk.

To finish, a little
BCBGeneration teaser from their new in-store boutique on the 2nd floor of Macy's Herald Square. I'll post some of the clothes tomorrow, when I'll be better prepared to ruminate on things other than the United States of America and its first African American president-elect.
