Shoes, Rompers & More @ Daffy's Herald Square

More from Daffy's shoe department on the 5th floor:

Many, many shoes by Devani, left. Most are $39.99 (were $120). Fab gold are Hale Bob.

Polka dots by a favorite, oh...DEER!

Yet more examples of Why I Love Daffy's Shoes. And if you're a small shoe size, they've got these bronze boots on sale now for a pittance. There's also some cute Triple 5 Soul on 5 next to shoe department. Check out these cotton rompers, perfect for summer weekends. I really, really dislike the word "romper" for women over 10 years of age, but these are rompers. Or onesies. Help, we need a new word.

There's navy, hot pink, and light grey.
And look for this this little T5Soul jumper and jacket:

I might have to go back for these, the T5Soul is usually $25 - $50-ish.

And these miscellaneous short jackets I found on the racks by the dressing room on 6:

Blue Wednesday cropped jacket, $23.99, and forgot-the-designer but was $750, now $149.99 lace jacket.

Daffy's Neutral

Go to the 6th floor of Daffy's Herald Square and walk down the aisle between the dressing rooms and the registers. To your right is a rack full of perfect Gerard Darel neutrals.

The sleeves (left) are sheer and have little buttons.

You won't find the polka dot, bought it!

Linen and cotton blends, all are $29.99. By now I bet you've seen a "neutral" how-to or editorial in your fashion mags. Get one of these and keep it simple. You'll also find this little silk Stella McCartney I hid in with the Darels:

$119.99, was $495. And be sure to check out shoes a floor below while you're there. I'll post more photos next week, but here's a teaser:

A whole wall full of Luca Stefani boots. Ah, love the neutral.

Isaac in Macy's Tonight

Whew, out of town for a day and I almost miss Isaac at Macy's Herald Square. Well, it's not too too late. Got a tweetbeep alert that Mr. Mizrahi is in the Herald Square store tonight at 6pm to promote his first season at Liz Claiborne. First lucky 50 attendees who spend $150 or more get a free autographed copy of Isaac's book "How to Have Style." Call for reservations: 212-494-4000.

And good timing, as I've got a big bright pink post-it on my computer screen that says "LIZ - MACYS." Have you seen Isaac's collection? Very pretty, well done, Liz Claiborne. This may be a perfect match. I'll visit Macy's this week and post some pictures of clothes IRL on ARG.

I love the ad for this spring collection, on the opening page of the Liz site.

Thanks to Glamour for the pics. And while you're at Macy's, use this pass for 15%-20% off purchases. Restrictions apply, etc. etc.

Payless+Pat Field+34th Street=$12

The Patricia Field for Payless shoe from her last collection. It's tough for me to turn down a $12 Payless designer collab shoe. Thanks to my model, who yes, has much smaller feet than I. Office consensus is the shoes are cute, but the heel is too clunky. My response: it's Patricia Field, expect the platform tranny heel. Work! And here's my shoe at work:

Shoes, Fries, and Accessories

What an afternoon. First, Pat Field for Payless shoes on sale (see tomorrow's post), then a little Manhattan Mall wandering inspired by a Racked Twitter request, and last, a perfect, just-a-step-above fast food burger & curly fries at Bruce's Burger. All I needed for more perfection was a McDonald's shake.

I dropped by Afaze in Manhattan Mall as earlier in the day Racked twittered the need for those plastic backs for earrings. Which reminded me of my dire need for these as I seem to always lose one in every pair of earrings I own (blame cats...). Where to find? Mirthful33 was lovely enough to twitter back: Claire's or Afaze in Manhattan Mall. Really one of my most productive twittering sessions yet.

But sadly, Afaze no longer carries the plastic backs. I'm checking out the bead stores on 6th Avenue later this week. Here's what Afaze did have:

A few baubles in the line of this spring's "ethnic" trend:

You could wear that headband across your forehead ala Arden Wohl, but then I may have to send Cousin Phil over to torture you.

Bright pink and green faux-skin clutches, $22, what's not to love? Afaze is like a grown-up Claire's. One can get a little lost in there. And I'm very excited with the Manhattan Mall progress. No JCPenney yet, but everything's looking all shiny and modern.

Box O' Lashes (and Fake Nails)

Perhaps some of you also were contacted by Revlon to test some of their products? Well, as Revlon is carried in probably all of our pharmacies* on 34th Street, I asked for the lashes and fake nails. Honestly I was hoping to test some serious press-on nails. I can't resist the press-on.

Here's what came to the office this morning:

I thought I'd be getting maybe two pairs each. Nope, 112 pieces like these:

Fantasy Length lashes, "Chic," "Defining," and "Lush." Think I"ll put Lush on top of Defining;

and these, decorative french manicures, YES!

As one of my favorite guys said upon viewing above box, "We need some trannies." Seriously. I plan, of course, on testing them all and will post a review later. But soon, I'm sure, my office-mate will tire of me gluing on nails and lashes in our shared space. So some major giving away is in Fashion Herald's near future to anyone and everyone who wants to sample. Don't forget nieces and younger sisters. Remember when you, too, were obsessed with Lee Press On Nails?**

*Favorite 34th Street pharmacies: Irmat at 2 Park Avenue when I want highbrow, Walgreen's in the Empire State Building, just to be buying shampoo in the basement of the ESB, and Duane Reade on the corner of 34th & 5th, my go-to snack stop.

**warning: none of these nails are actually press on, you've got to use the glue. But I do have several self-adhesive fake lashes.

The Water Watch Returns

At least once a year I get a craving for a men's watch, big and bulky hanging off my wrist. Someday I'll spend thousands on a fancy dive watch that can be seen from down the block. But in the meantime, check out Fossil's reissue designs of their special edition, circa 1989 Water Watch:

Pretty much unisex in design. For me, that pink with the chunky chain will do nicely. Inspired by the lava lamp, the Fossil Water Watch has a sealed double crystal capsule that keeps the liquid inside. And it's got loose gears, hands and screws that float atop the dial, woooo! Freaky! Love it for $85. Release date is this Sunday the 22nd so you can get in on 34th Street then.

Yo, Pilgrim

I used to have a pair of Delman shoes that were black patent leather with a huge pilgrim buckle. My cousin Phil teased me constantly about those shoes. He'd do the John Wayne accent, or joke about turkey hunting and Thanksgiving or, of course, the Mayflower. Finally I came home one day to find him dressed up in one of my god-awful outfits (this was the 80's) and The Pilgrim Shoes. This from the Marine who was learning to fly F-18's in Quantico.

The Pilgrim Shoes sadly disappeared somewhere along the decades, but I'm going to have to buy these for the next family reunion:

Dexter "Mayflower Buckle Pump" from Payless on 34th Street. Pilgrim enough for Phil.

But this season you may prefer the neutral. The Mayflower in mushroom (both are $24.99):

Cute Clutch

H&M clutch, $16.90, cheap and adorable. Speaking of clutches, Macy's Herald Square has many clutches, purses, bags, etc. currently on sale. And if you're into coming into town this Saturday, hit their big ONE DAY SALE. Friday the store opens early (9am) for a preview day, and both days will have what us old-fashioned types call "door-busters," aka "morning specials," from 9am - 1pm. You know, like the "early bird special" but for clothes.

More Ben Sherman, H&M, and Lady Foot Locker

I refuse to leave my office on St. Patrick's Day as I can watch the parade from here in my aerie (office) and I am seriously allergic to crowds. Thus the photos I would have shown yesterday and last week if I didn't want ginormous posts:

Mmmm, zipper All Stars. See the colors under the zipper?

My homage to the Foot Locker striper, a la Ben Sherman (shirt) and H&M (pants). Hi top Nikes from the Lady Foot Locker.

All the below from Ben Sherman on the 2nd floor at Macy's Herald Square, full of all the green I didn't wear today. Don't worry, I'm so Irish if you scratch me I bleed shamrocks & leprechauns.

I Have Found My Pinnacle Jean And It Is Small

I have found the most perfect black skinny jean and it lives on the second floor of Macy's Herald Square in the Ben Sherman department.

Technically these are grey, but I call them black. Ben Sherman also calls them "Siouxsie."

This Ben Sherman grey leather jacket is also quite perfect. I read the company is getting back to its roots (mod, rudeboy) this season. I like to call it preppy punk at its best.

Take a quiet moment: long, super tight as if you'd pegged them, zippers on calves that look really cool from the side, MATTE black/grey that is slightly shiny or something but nothing obvious so these must never be able to shrink because of their car finish coating.

But alas, for me it is not meant to be. Why? I'm not exactly toting around the most perfect body right now so there was a bit of a fit issue in the dressing room. We tugged at each other, we jumped up and down together, I begged and pleaded, I vowed to say a rosary or any other such unlikely religious thing if they would just go over my hips. I even laid down on the ground and broke a hanger trying the Olivia Newton John (sorry, Macy's), but no go. These jeans don't move. So no, they are not drop crotch, that's just unzipped agony. But do not pity me. From the girl who once owned the skinniest pair of black Lip Service jeans in Baltimore: I'll be back!

Da Winner!

Sister Wolf from Godammit, I'm Mad! Sister Wolf gets these Current/Elliott boyfriend jeans from ChickDowntown.com, which should make her a little less mad for the upcoming weekend. Congrats, Sister Wolf!

Many thanks to ChickDowntown for the great giveaway. And no, that's not Kati's hand up there as she was out today, so Jeff stood in as The Official Fashion Herald Giveaway Name Drawer. If you didn't win you can blame it on Jeff's name drawing.

I think I can rustle together another little giveaway in the next couple weeks, so keep an eye out. A good weekend to all and next week it's back to 34th Street and trying on clothes. Let me know in comments if there's any particular trend or style you'd like to see, maybe I'll do a comparison/contrast from different stores on 34th Street. But warning, be careful what you ask for....

Update: Congratulations to Sister Wolf from chickdowntown.com, who would love you all to visit and check out the new spring looks from Nanette Lepore, Elizabeth James, and Diane von Furstenberg.
