Lady Foot Locker Mother's Day Giveaway

Win a $100 Lady Foot Locker Gift Certificate for Mother's Day!
Mom is queen for a day on May 9th, so why not get her some purple kicks to celebrate? Yes, I'm talking about those Nikes up there. Purple has been anointed chic right now, but I've always been a fan of purple shoes. I've got a couple purple tops, too, and a pair of purple, crushed-velvet bell-bottoms tucked away in a box somewhere. I just can't bring myself to throw them out. If I ever do, I'm sure the next day purple, crushed-velvet bell-bottoms will be deigned super-chic by the fashion powers.

If you leave a comment on this post, you might be able to use your Lady Foot Locker $100 gift certificate to get Mom some shoes. Tell me in comments what you usually get your mom for Mother's Day, and you're entered in the contest.* Entries will be taken till next Tuesday, May 4th at noon, at which time we'll do our usual Fashion Herald drawing. Many thanks to our friends at Lady Foot Locker on 34th Street for providing this great prize, and good luck to our readers!

*sorry, overseas bloggers, contest is open to US residents only.

My moms bday is actually today 4/29 and Mother's Day follows so closely. I usually get her her favorite flowers (sunflowers) and something a little pricey (last year was a digital picture frame with pics of me and her) Oh and of course brunch! But this year I moved away (from Miami to NYC) so Im totally lost!

Well I'm an only child to an amazing single mother who committed her whole life to providing the best education against the adversity of limited resources and well she did just that so every year I try to buy her jewelry but now that she has so much I got her to join Lucille Roberts I'd love to get her a new pair of kicks :)

I usually take my mom out to eat. Nothing shows her I appreciate her more than taking her out to her favorite restaurant. You never know exactly what she wants but you can guarentee that she will be very happy with her dish of choice, a drink or two, and a delicious dessert to finish off her mothers day festivities.

I always buy my mom flowers from the nursery and plant them in the garden for her. I've done this about five years and it's a great tradition-- plus it lasts more than just one day, the whole season!

I always buy a plant for the garden. My mom never wanted "flowers" cause they were for funerals!! LOL She also appreciated us just taking care of dinner, whether it was taking her out or cooking it ourselves.

My Mother's Day gifts have certainly varied in quality throughout my life! As an adult, I have to do different things now that we no longer live in the same state. I usually call her & send her a giftcard to someplace she really wants to go at the time, or when in doubt, a Starbucks card for her beloved coffee! I send a nice card to my dad and he has my brother and sister sign it and give it to her if they go out to eat or something nice like that. Nothing ever extravagant, but she is always so appreciative of whatever it is we do!

I usually get her some pampering treats. In the past I have also given her jewelry

I usually make something (I'm horrible at arts and crafts so between age 5 and 19 every gift looks of the same caliber). I'm usually too broke to purchase anything major as I am a slave to school. This year, I have resorted to decorating a plant pot and will fill it with candy and other deliciousness my mom enjoys.

I usually go with something to help her enjoy the change of seasons, a great piece of jewelry or new sandals. I am blessed with a wonderful mother and wonderful step mother, and since having children of my own, it is a special time for all of us.

My post applies to my mother-in-law,as my own mom is deceased. However, my MIL has become so dear to me it's unbelievable, and Mother's Day is even more special to me. As she LOVES opening gifts, it is so very much fun to shop for her. I can go for her favorite roses (bushes or cut- she's currently trying to fing the lavenden/blue one). Last year I did a variety of Soap Opera Digest, a gold pendant with earrings to match and a knit top. This year I've found a pair of lavender slippers and one of her favorite labels of summers blouses. BUT, most important to her is the card. The gift is umimportant without the the card, which truly must have a REAL note inside! Just like our mothers taught us! ♥

I usually get my mom some clothes or a new purse...something she'd never buy for herself.

My mom usually gets something in the beauty department -- expensive conditioner, makeup, pedicure kit, etc as she will NEVER spend money on that for herself! She's still using 15 year old makeup, much to my horror... :)

I usually get my mom a hanging fushia plant (she can keep them alive all summer long) and something cozy like pjs or a robe. This year I would love to get her a nice pair of running shoes!

I send her funky rings, like fake jeweled crosses or colorful glas

I switch up from year to year, so there really is no trend. I have bought purses, shoes, jewelry, and even given her money in a card. The other day, while at the South Street Seaport, she pointed out a pair of shoes in the Aerosoles store. I think I'll pick them up. Then again, we bike together and she has been wanting to get new tires and gears on her Racer. Maybe I'll do that instead :0)

I wish I could be with my mom this Mother's Day. I usually give her a hug and do her laundry..haha. In the past I've given her silk scarves and beret hats.. But this year a card will have to do...maybe I'll slip in a $20 to start the "payback"...(this is my first time away from home with a job...). I think she'd appreciate that.

Thanks to everyone who have entered so far, I'm really impressed and touched by your mother's day comments! I really need to step it up this year for my moms!

My mum and I always get psychic readings together on Mother's Day. We're both really into astrology, so it's silly and fun and we get to exchange stories and predictions afterwards over brunch. :)

When I lived at home my brother and I would always make my mom breakfast in bed and have her open presents at the same time. Now that we live on opposite coasts, I still like to get her something handmade that I buy from Etsy. This year it was a crocheted infinity scarf and last year it was a necklace and soaps.
