Make it a Happy, Sequinned 2011

Happy Snow Year! Although I'm missing all of this NYC snow as we're out of town, our staff is out and about shooting snowy street scenes like the Bennett Memorial in Herald Square, above. While you're trudging through the snow, looking for last minute additions to your New Year's Eve look, stop by JCPenney in Manhattan Mall for sequinned extras, like these Olsenboye booties, below. JCPenney has also got some adorable sequinned clutches and sparkly accessories. Enjoy celebrating the beginning of 2011, and let it be a peaceful and joyous new year for us all.

They are bewdiful alright. But do you ever feel that sparkly things = child labour? I won't shop in Pennys in Ireland for that reason. Too cheap for anyone to have been paid properly. xx

Seeker - Happy new year to you, too!
Hammie - I think that is a natural reaction to a large corporation that produces inexpensive product. But look here - http://jcpenney.net/shared/content/CSR/csr_2009/index.html - at the company's "Sourcing Responsibly" in their "Commitment to Social Responsibility" report (CSR). The flip side of a company with the size and reputation of a JCPenney is their need to maintain their reputation and good labor practices. Also, while I was looking around a bit to address your comment (I can't say I've done a lot of research into this, just a little google-ing out of curiosity!), I found this article that lauds their commitment to environmental sustainability: http://www.greenbiz.com/blog/2010/10/20/jcpenney-quiet-green-giant - From a mere surface search, JCPenney looks good. And you bring up an excellent point - I think if we shop a store regularly, we do have a responsibility to check out their background and practices.

Beautiful picture of the snow in Herald Square! The booty isn't too bad, either.
