BCBG Max Azria Fall 2013

Entering the runway at BCBG

Modern, layered hippies are all the rage for fall. Well, not really, but at BCBG Max Azria the girls were sporting long, silky shifts over long skirts with super-long fur vests and fur-trimmed coats. It was a casual, luxe look that could take them from dancing in the mud at a music festival to dragging their hems down the Lower East Side.

The actual influence was Istanbul meets artist Phil Frost. Frost's highly graphic work gained fame in the 90's with street installations, but the seemingly disparate influences were a perfect fit. Striking prints on vests, sweaters, and coats perfectly framed the graceful, filmy dresses over leggings that recalled traditional Turkish dress.

It can be a bit of a challenge to get the layered, long-on-long proportion correct when one is not on a runway, but let BCBG take care of that for you next fall. You should be finding a lot of this look at Macy's Herald Square on 34th Street.
