Son Jung Wan Fall 2013

Amanda Wigen covers Son Jung Wan at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

In contrast to the other (overwhelmingly dark) ready-to-wear collections we've seen this season, Son Jung Wan opened the show with a series of pale neutrals, namely soft blush tones and greys. The minimalist cuts were dressed-up with bias stitching and some warrior-inspired fur detailing.

Taking the collection in a more formal direction, Son Jung Wan traded softness of color for softness in material, and experimented with texture and volume. The bold shades of flowing tulle looked modern and elegant rather than frou-frou, and brought an exciting sense of movement to the runway.

Nothing like a blurry iPhone pic to capture that sense of movement, eh?

This fox fur coat and gold sequined jumper closed the show. Both pieces referenced the light grey hues, hints of fur, and night-time glamour seen previously, while majorly amping up the wow-factor.

Oh.. and I love me some menswear.
