United by Blue's Bison Socks

A few weeks ago, at about 6:30am, I ignored all snow forecasts and the threat of a polar vortex, and chose a pleated grey mini dress and a pair of thin leggings for the day's outfit. But as any good Iowa girl knows, you can survive thin leggings and a mini-dress in January if you've got warm socks.
And baby, I've got warm socks.

They aren't just warm, they are breathable, comfortable, genius socks. Hyperbole aside, these socks really are fabulous.

The Ultimate American Sock is ultimate in warmth and dryness, too. Click below for all the details (their Kickstarter, launched back in November, was funded almost immediately), and order some for yourself here. Don't forget, New Yorkers, February is the coldest month of the year. I've been wearing my bison socks whenever I've got outdoor events (like this weekend's Winter Carnival) and they've been a lifesaver.

The old Borders space (RIP bookstores) outside Madison Square Garden at 2 Penn Plaza is now home to a Nike/Foot Locker House of Hoops pop-up.

This shoe mecca pop-up is here for the NBA All-Stars game, and will remain open till February 22nd. This 5,100 square foot location fits a lot of kicks, and will host shoes releases, a customization center, and visits from Nike basketball athletes.

Opening Tomorrow: Hooters!

Tomorrow Hooters is opening in the 34th Street District in a prime location catty-corner from Madison Square Garden. I took a tour in December before the holidays, and let me tell you: it's spectacular.

Seriously, this restaurant is huge, the bar upstairs is ginormous, it has the biggest Hooters retail section in the world (probably not true, but hello Hooters tanks), and it is going to be your perfect wings and beer destination before and after games and shows at Madison Square Garden.

The view of MSG from the second floor.
Hooters 34th Street also boasts a more streamlined and revamped Hooters decor. There is a fetching surf display, photos of Hooters girls past and present, and a history display on the second floor. But all-in-all, this new Hooters skews more Midtown restaurant than theme-chain.

Downstairs, left, upstairs, right.
With all the TVs, clearly this Hooters will be a great place to watch the game. Then there's the Hooters girls. It is sacrilege if one writes about Hooters and does not mention the Hooters girls, right? It's all about the food, the drinks, and the girls at Hooters! So here's an adorable holiday Hooters Girls photo from their facebook page, featuring the girls from the original restaurant in Clearwater, FL:

Let's go get wings, guys.

Teens for Jeans kicked off today, so donate your denim at any Aéropostale or P.S. from Aéropostale store from January 12 - February 15.

Over a million young people experience homelessness in the US every year. One item they often request? A pair of jeans. The school that collects the most jeans wins $5,000, Aero tees, and a private concert by The Vamps!
