Kids Foot Locker for the Fourth

Leave it to Foot Locker to satisfy my need for the red, white, and blue this week.

Polos on sale, 4 for $20, through the weekend.

See those croc styles, which I have vowed would never been seen on Fashion Herald, ever? Well, this is what happens when you have a kid. Crocs are great for kids, mainly, I think, because they are indestructible and easy to slip on and off. Still, I couldn't bring myself to buy Baby Herald crocs even though she was obsessed with her cousins'. Grandma remedied this by mailing us a pair of hot pink ones, seen below. The first night as a croc owner, she refused to take them off at bedtime so she wore them to sleep. Maybe if I'm lucky, her only act of rebellion in life will be to wear ugly shoes that offend her mom.

Also, I would have her in a cute little ruffled bathing suit if she wasn't so terribly lily white. Practical fashions, *sigh*.

Flagging It

Huh, I guess cloches and flag tank tops don't really go together.

Bebe flag tank is $39, jeans are $98, and the cloche is $34.

I was ransacking stores on the north side of 34th Street off Fifth today, looking for some patriotic colors. I'm always curious to see how far retailers will go with holiday themes. I think Bebe does it just right. I had to take it a little further with the only red hat in the store.

P.S. I always forgot how well Bebe jeans fit, and how comfortable they are. The above are stretchy, come distressed, and are made of very soft cotton.

Old Navy's Operation Donation

Just in time for the Fourth of July! Visit Old Navy on 34th Street from July 1st to the 4th, donate an item listed below, and get ten percent off your entire purchase. I like Old Navy for their cute tops, sundresses, bikinis, and baby basics. How about you? I think everyone I know has at least one Old Navy favorite. I know people who live for the $1 flip flop day.

Two Bags at Macy's Herald Square

Two very different styles of bags, but I'd be happy with both in my closet.

First, the hipster fabulous Alternative Apparel bags. And by hipster I mean modern hippie fabulous.

This is a little smushy fabulous. Visit here for a proper photo.
And the R&EM line, available only at Macy's: trendy, affordable, and vegan. And by vegan I don't mean this is just a plastic bag.

Luckily the R&Ems are so inexpensive, you can get the tote and have your clutch, too.

34th Street Weekend Sales Picks: First Week of Summer

#1. Zara

Because their big summer sale is kicking off today. And I bought my new favorite pants there just a few weeks ago. Go see if you can get them for less, they are a cool, loose summer pant.  39 W. 34th Street

#2. Famous Footwear
Because shoppers get 40-50% off clearance. And these very cute Roxy espadrilles are on sale. 250 W. 34th Street

#3. Kmart
Because I just can't get over the cuteness of the Selena Gomez Dream Out Loud junior line, a lot of which is now on sale. And my favorite "adult" line, Route 66 (below), also has discounted items, like a rack full of booty shorts. I like to wear these inside the apartment for cleaning and weekend dancing around the living room (I'm not joking), or under a short beach cover-up.  250 W. 34th Street

I've Got BCBG Fever

When I saw a rack full of snake print clothes and pleated maxi skirts in the BCBG Max Azria boutique at Macy's Herald Square, I ran screaming "BCBG!!!" around the department store.

The line outside Macy's this morning for the #Someday Justin Bieber perfume launch and personal appearance.

OK, not really. Those were crazed Bieber fans you heard screaming outside Macy's Herald Square today. But I did spend half an hour in the dressing room spinning around in this amazing, pleated black skirt. I've got the fever for all of these pieces.

Go Get Your Zumba On

Last night I attended a Bellydance + Pilates class in Tenth Avenue Park down in Chelsea, right across the street from Colicchio & Sons. We manage a small district there, and I just started doing the Facebook and Twitter (yes, please, go like and follow me, thanks!). It's really hard to pass by Colicchio & Sons and not go in for wine on tap, and instead go across the street to an exercise class. But this class is free, bellydancing is really fun, and the pilates part seriously kicks your core's butt. Me and my very sore upper arms highly recommend it. We all can do wine on tap after.

Speaking of free classes, while I was bellydancing and pilates-ing, my video intern, Adrian, was working on this Zumba video. This class is Thursdays, happens right in front of Macy's Herald Square, is free, like all our classes, and is a blast. I'm so there on Thursday. I'm hoping between Zumba and Bellydance I can shake away the last of the Baby Herald midriff for a bikini by August.

How adorable are those kids?! How awesome is Xavier, the teacher from Paul Pellicoro's DanceSport, our fantastic partner? God, I love summer in the city.

Impressed With Express

Impressed with Express these days? Yeah, me too.
Chiffon butterfly top, $49.90, knit min is $49.90.

White shorts are $59.50, brown net sweater $49.90, both come in several other colors.

My styling is a little sloppy in the latter (I grabbed an "L" top when an "M" would have sufficed), but I love that net sweater with the white shorts. You, I'm sure, will make this much more fabulous than I.

Oh Hi, ScarJo

Mango has amped up their 34th Street presence and added some ScarJo to the windows. I know someday I'm going to be in the office slaving typing away and I'll see a random "Mango on 34th Street" tweet and then I'll drop everything and run down...until then, no, I have no idea when exactly it's opening. But according to ScarJo and Mango, it's soon.

To celebrate the arrival of celebrity spokespeople on 34th Street, I went to JCPenney and tried on some MNG by Mango dresses now on sale.

I am not a strapless dress girl. For those of you who can actually keep one of these up they are adorable.

I was really kicking myself after taking these shots as I could have totally aped ScarJo posing. Oh well, I'll save it for the store opening. These MNG by Mango dresses are ridiculously discounted, so go visit the first lower level of  JCPenney Manhattan Mall and snatch some up until you can shop the 34th Street Mango.

Because there's a BOGO 50% off select colognes for Father's Day, including scents by Lacoste, Ferragamo, and Hugo Boss. And you want him smelling good.  20 W. 34th Street

#3. Gap Herald Square

Bare Escentuals Herald Square is Sharing the Love

It's Friends & Family time at Bare Escentuals, so I dropped by the store this morning to pick us all up a card. Print it out, use it at the lovely Herald Square boutique or online, and get 20% off all Bare Escentuals products through Sunday, June 19th.

While you're visiting the boutique, don't miss the new Pretty Amazing lip color. I just put it on and so far yes, it's pretty amazing. It goes on shiny but sets matte.

Also, Bare Escentuals is having a birthday. Get this 5-piece set for $35 ($78 value) to celebrate the line's 35th birthday. So very many beautiful ways to save and get pretty at Bare Escentuals this weekend.

Shopping Bryant Park: The Original Penguin Store

Sometimes, I'm The Bryant Park Shopper and I cross-post for our sister company.

Why is this guy being coy with an Original Penguin bag? I suspect it has a lot to do with this. Nothing like retail happy hours! Click on that link to read more about the Original Penguin Bryant Park store happy hour tomorrow night from 5-7pm.

Summer Leathers in Daffy's Herald Square

I tweeted out this photo last week, wondering how I could be loving leather in 95° heat. But this morning it was so chilly I wore a leather jacket to work, and thought again of this pretty fabulous little leather coat.

I forgot to get the price but see the orange ticket? Major discount.

From Daffy's Herald Square on the sixth floor. Think about what you're going to need come fall. I think you're going to need this light color leather.

My Go-To Gilbert

Last week I remembered to ask my new video intern, Adrian, to take a few shots of me in Herald Square. Us social media people are always in need of new profile pics, etc., and it's a rare day I've got a photographer hanging out with me in Herald Square.

Top from Gap Herald Square (no longer available), pants from Zara 34th Street (other colors still available), sunglasses from Billabong Herald Square (still available).

I'm not crazy about the shoes with the whole look, but this was impromptu and these shoes sit under my desk all summer long. They are Payless (Lower East Side) from almost five years ago, and they are my daily comfortable work wedge. Seriously, I can walk all day through the district in these. And it's a good thing I'm wearing a wedge because I am standing on a subway grate. Herald Square is all subway grate in the middle.

Also if you're thinking hey, your hair actually looks coiffed today, like maybe you didn't have to spend fifteen minutes photoshopping flyaways, this is because I had just visited Gilbert up the block at Jean Pierre Salon (36th & Sixth). Gilbert is not my regular stylist (I've been seeing her for almost twelve years) but he is my fail-safe, go-to guy for bang trims, blow-outs, and last-minute color. I keep a box of John Frieda foam at home, but last week I really needed some chair time. Gilbert is wonderful, and you can find him at Jean Pierre Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.

Slick Nails on 34th Street

Thanks to a recommendation from John, the 34th Street Swarovski manager, Slick Nails is now my very efficient and very capable mani-pedi spot in the district.

Shoes by Fossil from a couple years back. Maxi dress from TJMaxx in Iowa (I was cheating out in the Midwest).

Like my green nails?! If you need a great but fast nail refurbish, this is your salon. $28 gets you a mani-pedi. But if you've got more time, $39.95 gets you a mani + pedi + 15 minute massage. I bet you'll be in and out, relaxed and groomed, in an hour fifteen. Slick Nails is the perfect lunchtime, mini-spa break.

Bravo to Bar III

It's taken me a while to try the Bar III on at Macy's Herald Square, but I'm coming back for more real soon. Whoever designs this collection is genius and Macy's needs to give them a big fat raise.

Bar III top $49, and skirt $59 from the 2nd floor of Macy's Herald Square.

The jumpsuit ($79) has fabulously long wide legs, and that black dress is soft as silk.

I would have immediately snatched up the black pants but my size was gone (these aren't exactly buttoned up). How often do you think that about black pants? The top has a very sexy racerback cutout. The print dress is $68. The dresses in this collection are adorable, the price on everything is incredibly reasonable, and the cuts are perfect. Again, who designs this?! A team, one genius, Terry Lundgren's chef, whoever you are I think I'm in love.

Dress is $59. This is such a Serena/Blake Lively look.

H&M 34th Street's Look of the Day

As I trolled H&M 34th Street this morning, I was pretty sure this was going to be my look of the day:

Faux-leather cropped blazer, $34.95, jumpsuit $24.95. Both are Divided from 1st floor, 7th Ave side.

But then I spotted the yellow print shorts, and found a paisley blouse hanging on the other side of the first floor. The shorts are such a perfect cut I would buy them, and yellow is not a color I should wear.

Blouse is $24.95 from 1st floor 34th St side, Divided shorts are $17.95 from 7th Ave side.

And shoppers: I highly advise against trying on clothes in the lowest level (basement) dressing rooms of H&M 34th Street. I felt like I was changing in a nightclub, and not in a good way.

Roastown Coffee Hits 34th Street

There's a new coffee on 34th Street. I rarely get through a 34th Street shopping trip without a coffee stop, so having an organic source pop up on the west end of the street was like Christmas in May.

Roastown coffee, find it on the northeast corner of W. 34th Street & 8th Avenue.
Next time, I'm going during lunch hour because the salad bar looks fantastic. Those avocados were begging to be photographed.

A fro-yo wall? A variety of fresh fruit options, sushi, seaweed salad, and edamame? We're getting healthy on 34th Street, which is crucial for us shoppers looking for a light bite in-between dressing room excursions. But don't visit just for lunch because this healthy food bar is open 24 hours a day.

Roastown Coffee find it on the northeast corner of 34th Street & Eighth Avenue
