#PinkYourPics at Victoria's Secret Herald Square

I love the PINK photo booth at Victoria's Secret Herald Square.

From Victoria Secret's PINK facebook page

I noticed it in action last week, and the users were thrilled to find out from the very polite security woman that it was free (she must answer this question all day). So don't be shy: go #PinkYourPics with your friends while you're shopping Victoria's Secret Herald Square!

Last touch-ups for the sign! Now it's totally ready for its close-up.

Celebrate the reopening of Victoria's Secret Herald Square and its greatly expanded Pink department on the new lower level with a panty sale: Get five pairs for $26. I like the classic pink hipster, the Halloween-themed thong, and a classic boyshort.

The New Victoria's Secret Herald Square

The Victoria's Secret Herald Square flagship officially re-opened today, and it's beautiful. Welcome back to Herald Square, Victoria's Secret. Your makeover is a gorgeous retail homage to lingerie.

Perhaps the biggest story here, besides the obvious lingerie-mecca angle, is in the beauty departments. Each floor has a beauty boutique (first floor cosmetics, body on lower level, and more on two), and the real estate at the entrance on the main floor is all about fragrance. But let's take a little tour:

Pink has its own entrance on 34th Street (above, right). Go to the lower level and enter the Pink world of merchandise. You'll also find the Sport collection and Body by Victoria beauty products.

The main floor is fragrance, cosmetics, and what looks to be more of the collection and high-end lingerie. Here you'll also find the Angel costume displays.

Upstairs is bra and panty land, with a floor full of basics and more. There's also a display of New York City-branded Victoria's Secret merchandise.

On your way up and down the escalators from one to two, you'll view photos of Angels, and at the bottom of the escalators is a huge video screen. Videos are displayed throughout the store, but this one is truly impressive. You're going to see a lot of the Angels at Herald Square.

The store was packed today with shoppers, staff, and tourists taking photos in front of VS displays. Yes, I think Herald Square has another retail tourist destination! With the new Gap, the renovation of Macy's Herald Square, and the new Victoria's Secret, almost all four corners of Herald Square will be shiny new. Perhaps Herald Center on the southwest corner will be next? Hmmm...

Victoria's Secret Manhattan Mall: Now Open. And Closed.

Don't be confused. As of today, a gorgeous new Victoria's Secret is open in the old Charlotte Russe space on the first floor of Manhattan Mall. It's a great space, which you can't really tell from my crap iPhone shot:

It's really a pretty store, stop by for a visit!

The Victoria's Secret on the second floor in Manhattan Mall is now closed. The flagship store on Herald Square is still open, but don't forget, they'll be closing soon for renovations. Luckily, Victoria's Secret has provided us with a nice sign at the old Manhattan Mall space, telling us what's up:

Which is a lot more helpful than, say, no sign:

Ack, Zara! Shoppers are freaking out! Now everyone thinks the store is gone! Or never existed. But seriously, what do they care? We love Zara so much that as soon as that wooden thing is gone and the store's renovations are complete, we'll be packing into the 34th Street store, cash and credit card in hand. Yes, the store will reopen. I got the scoop from a friendly security guy in the building next door. That is the most reliable information I can currently get on Zara, who should be tipping him big bills for Christmas 2012.

And now that I think of it, there's tons of construction going on at 35th Street behind Zara. Wild speculation: they are expanding! Oh, I love starting a good retail rumor.

Victoria's Secret Herald Square: The Renovation Update

Victoria's Secret is playing musical stores this summer while they renovate their Herald Square store to make it an even bigger lingerie destination. A 50,000 square foot lingerie destination, to be exact, which means they are more than doubling their current size. The space will now be big enough to "have its own runway for fashion events."

Soon to be even bigger and better.

The Herald Square flagship has acquired 30,000 square feet of lower level parking garage under their store, and obviously need some time to get rid of that parking-garage feel. In the meantime, they will be moving to Manhattan Mall in what was Charlotte Russe. The Herald Square location will close the end of May, and the Manhattan Mall location will open mid-to-late May.

Coming soon!

This will make two Victoria Secrets in the mall*, but we're used to seeing double in the 34th Street district: we've got two Foot Lockers (and one House of Hoops by Foot Locker), two Victoria's Secrets, two H&Ms, two Desiguals, two Paylesses, two Aéropostales ...we've got a lot of twos.

I hope people won't be panicking in front of the Herald Square Victoria's Secret like they are at the temporarily-closed Zara down the street (seriously, daily I see women shaking and pounding on the locked door and peering through the dark glass). With VS you've got an option: walk down Broadway to 33rd Street and look for Manhattan Mall across from Greeley Square. Walk through the doors. Victoria's Secret will be waiting for you at the end of the first floor, or at its permanent location on the second floor.*

*I don't know if the first floor location will become permanent, or if the second floor location will close, as Victoria's Secret could not yet comment on this. Either way, Victoria's Secret will be well-represented in Manhattan Mall!

Victoria's Secret's Modern Courtesan

I didn't see any American flag lingerie last week at Victoria's Secret Herald Square, but I immediately spotted a Union Jack of sorts.

The Herald Square Victoria's Secret always has an interesting selection of designer lingerie. I tried on this Modern Courtesan bustier style, which could be a dress in the boudoir. For a night out, a girl might do this with jeans. Start by topping it with a jacket because the back view is all lingerie with see-through panels.

It's Lingerie Time

This morning I was walking up the subway steps right behind a young woman whose thong was hanging out well above her jeans. It was a little shocking: not the fact that I was face to face with a stranger's thong, but that this style of wearing one's underwear was still in existence. I tried to remember how long ago I had owned a plaid thong bodysuit (Lip Service, it straddled the punk rock and metal worlds), which then brought my thoughts round to the current state of my underpinnings. And I realized that one of my dresser drawers is still full of nursing bras. No, I'm no longer nursing.I was long overdue for a Victoria's Secret Herald Square visit.

I like these animal print thongs. And no, they don't look like they are going to be adorning my upper torso.

I've learned to love these hiphugger styles. They don't give bad panty lines, depending on what you're wearing, they're comfortable, and they're insta-sexy. More, even, than having your thong hanging a foot out of your pants.

These are cute but a little too uniform-like for me. I need basics right now. I can delve into more fun stuff later.

I don't like an embellished or shiny bra, but I love the panties. If you're in need of something special to knock all those nursing bras out of your drawers, or just to add to your fabulous undie collection, walk into the first floor of Victoria's Secret on 34th Street and veer right towards the Pretty Little Things section. The pretty little bridal things are here too, but let's tackle that behemoth another day.

Victoria's Secret on 34th Street for Spring

Today, Lindsey visits Victoria's Secret on 34th & 6th to do a little guest post for me. Thanks, Lindsey!

Capitalizing on a weekend of good weather, I decided to head to Victoria’s Secret for a few little somethings to wear outside this spring. Boy did I find some fun fluorescents to layer!

This funky yet timeless combination is something I plan on wearing throughout the season. A versatile gray jersey skirt ($16.50), with handy pockets, a pale pink tank ($19.50) with color lines underneath a pastel colored hoodie ($39.50). Put it together and you’ve got a bit of elegance and comfort at the same time.

And the pink tank looks cute to throw on over your swim suit allowing just a bit of the print to show through…

Talk about swim suits! Bright colors and prints abound….It is almost more fun to mix them than to match these charming prints! Maybe I’ll try to set that trend this summer (suits run from $40-$70).

After a good swim, a nice run, or just a jaunt around town, I’ll be ready to throw on this cute little top ($26.50) and full length hoodie and relax (hoodie $39.50, also available in black).
