Uniqlo x Celia Birtwell: Pants Obsessed

Please excuse a break from our regularly scheduled programming to obsess on these Uniqlo x Celia Birtwell pants.

So fun, so comfortable. They also have that weird print quality of looking kind of cute with every Celia Birtwell top I paired them with. Obviously, as you can see above, I wasn't trying to match them with anything, but still they charmed me. $19.90, a total steal.

Born Collection Fall Preview: The Shoes, The Bags

There's always tons to love at a Born shoe preview, but at the fall preview there were bags to love, too.

Can I get an OMG? These bags are perfection. Look for them in Macy's Herald Square by fall and hop on them fast, because these are going to S-E-L-L. Now for the Born shoe fall teaser: gorgeous boots...

...and a perfect pointy-toed flat boot. My mom and I have our boot for fall. Yes, we both love a pointy-toed flat boot, and have been looking for the perfect one for a few years. Look no more, Mom!

Also, look no further for your adorable menswear shoe. This one is so versatile.

There's lots of fun Western in a big selection of styles. If you don't have a Western boot yet, save up for these this fall and you will have it forever. Western will always come back around in style.

Lucky for us 34th Street shoppers, Born is sold at Macy's Herald Square. Expect a big representation of these Born shoes and bags in store this fall.

Unique Eyewear: Address Correction!

I wanted to post an update to our Unique Eyewear story, as Fashion Herald seems to have been number challenged last week: Unique Eyewear is at 19 West 34th Street, not 41 West 34th Street as I published last week. That's...

When you visit Unique, be sure to ask for Terry or Khaliha, mention the 34th Street Partnership, and you'll get $20 off your purchase of $100 or more (excluding sale items). Also, the folks at Unique Eyewear are exceedingly polite, even when you get their street address wrong! Many apologies to Unique for my failure to get the address correct the first time.

Sweet as Cotton Candy: IT'SUGAR

The Flower Show is imbuing Macy's Herald Square with wonderful sights and scents, while on the fourth floor, to the left of the Ben & Jerry's and Auntie Anne's Pretzels, there is a little boutique for your taste buds: IT'SUGAR. I fell upon this corner of retro sugar heaven in Macy's a while back, and thought I'd share its candy treasures today in case the Easter Bunny is in need of some inspiration.

Hopefully there is some Easter representation this week, maybe the Peeps Party Pack? A girl can dream. But the Pop Rocks, Everlasting Gobstoppers, and pixie sticks made me feel six years old again. Also, remember Laffy Taffy? How I love a good trip down childhood candy memory lane.

I thought Duff was a beer?
Bacon mints! For when your breath isn't feeling meaty-fresh.

My cheeks are puckering just looking at those gigantic sweet tarts.

When Pop Rocks first launched, they were the rock star of candy trends.

Everything on this rack takes me back to trips to the drugstore on my bike to spend my allowance. No wonder I have a cupcake and cookie problem.

EVERYONE knows a Twizzler lover. Everyone. It's the One Degree of Separation candy.

Above is a 5lb. gummy bear. The website photo is included below to give you a better sense of scale...
....there are no words. Except maybe "ausgezeichnet."

Visit IT'SUGAR in Macy's Herald Square to prepare for this upcoming candy holiday, or to stock up on retro favorites like candy buttons and the wax bottle "candy drinks." Yes, I used to drink candy.

Super Deal on 34th Street: Unique Eyewear

Sometimes a shopper needs to go a little off the beaten path to get a great deal. On 34th Street, that occasionally means one needs to go above the beaten path, especially when one is looking for a great deal on eyeglasses.

Skaga, John Varvatos ($229 at Unique, $349 elsewhere), and Fendi ($179 at Unique, $300 elsewhere)

Welcome to Unique Eyewear, located on the 12th floor of 19 West 34th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Unique is a small, family-owned, wholesale optician that boasts the best prices in town on lenses and frames. Also, and I asked this like three times, if they don't have a specific style you're looking for, they can order it for you. This just needs to be a brand that they already carry, like Ray Ban, Giorgio Armani, Silhouette, Calvin Klein, etc.

Unique Eyewear is a small shop, and customer service is exceptional. I'm also a big fan of their bargain frames that start at $49 (above, there's so much good up there). How does Unique bring you frames for so much less than their competitors? Well, they are on the 12th floor, so they aren't paying those street front rents. Also, they've been in the eyewear business since the 1940's in the same location (first as a machine shop grinding lenses, then as a retail store), so they've got a great relationship with their suppliers.

Look for this sign on the door on the 12th floor.

Now, special for readers of Fashion Herald, Unique Eyewear is offering $20 off any purchase of $100 or more (excluding sale frames or lenses). Just ask for Terry or Khaliha, mention the 34th Street Partnership, and take advantage of this 34th Street deal, totally worth the elevator ride up those extra eleven floors!

Well This is BIG: Beyoncé for H&M's Summer Collection

Let's just quote the press release on this one:

H&M is proud to announce a new partnership for its summer campaign with global superstar BeyoncĂ©. The entertainer, who kicks off her sold out Mrs. Carter Show World Tour on April 15, will appear in television and print ads featuring pieces from the H&M summer collection. The print and outdoor billboards introduce "BeyoncĂ© as Mrs. Carter in H&M”, the idea that women can be all things: strong, vulnerable, sensual, maternal, fun and flirtatious. The clothing will be available at the beginning of May in H&M stores worldwide.
“I’ve always liked H&M’s focus on fun and affordable fashion. I really loved the concept we collaborated on to explore the different emotions of women represented by the four elements – fire, water, earth and wind. It was a beautiful shoot on a tropical island. It felt more like making a video than a commercial,” says BeyoncĂ©.
“H&M’s summer campaign starring BeyoncĂ© is an epic fantasy, with glamour, drama and also a sense of paradise. It was amazing to watch her on the shoot make it all look effortless – a quality that makes her such an icon for women around the world. The campaign is the essence of BeyoncĂ©, and also the essence of H&M this summer,” says Donald Schneider, Creative Director at H&M.
“In the campaign BeyoncĂ© is wearing the key pieces from H&M you need for life in the sun this summer,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, Head of Design at H&M. “There’s the perfect bodycon dress, as well as a flowing sun dress that makes a real statement. And of course there are the bikinis, especially the fringed bikini. What makes these pieces even more special is that BeyoncĂ© herself had input in the designs, and they are full of her own personal style.”
The summer campaign features swimwear and beachwear pieces, including a tie-dye bikini from this summer’s H&M for Water collection. 25% of sales from the H&M for Water collection will be donated to H&M for WaterAid. Since 2002, H&M’s initiative with WaterAid has raised $4,009,980.
The campaign images were shot in Nassau in the Bahamas by photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, while the commercial was directed by Jonas Ă…kerlund. The commercial highlights the opposing nature of the four basic elements and will be available to view online in its entirety, with edited TV versions. The commercial also features a new song from BeyoncĂ©, “Standing On The Sun”, which will be available worldwide online and on hm.com at the beginning of May.

WOW. That is all.

Bebe: Totally on the Rodarte Fall '13 Bodysuit Trend

Want that thong bodysuit look shown on the Fall 2013 Rodarte runways? Go to bebe on 34th Street.

Now, I can't guarantee that this will or can hit you above your hipbones like the Rodarte runway thong bodysuit...

...as I just couldn't bring myself to try one on. It's a classic "been there, done with that" situation. I did come of age in the 90's, people. However, back in the day we used to yank our bodysuits up to reveal more hipbone, so you've always got that option. I know, ouch.

Check out more bebe bodysuit options here online.

Mark your calendars for the release of H&M's new partywear collection made from sustainable materials, because it's not just conscious, it's also PRETTY. I'm adoring the menswear in this collection, too.

Truly gorgeous all around. Hitting stores April 4th, look for it in H&M on 34th Street.
