LUSH Cosmetics: Back in Herald Square!

We were alerted to the reopening of LUSH Herald Square by this story in Racked NY. Yay to LUSH's gorgeous new home in the space that was previously Bare Minerals.

This morning on 34th Street.

Lush was in Herald Center on Broadway, but now has a larger, higher profile storefront on 34th Street to the left of Forever 21 and the right of American Eagle Outfitters. Bare Minerals moved out of this space in the beginning of the year after a fire in the building.

Luckily, no one was hurt in the fire, and this pretty building is making a comeback. Welcome back, LUSH Cosmetics!

Fashion Week Spring / Summer 2015: Michael Costello and Ricardo Seco

Michael Costello
Our coverage of New York Fashion Week ends with one of the most memorable shows of the season. Michael Costello hit all the right notes with his Spring / Summer collection of swoon-worthy, flawless, red carpet gowns. Many of the dramatic gowns had that classic sense of beauty with traditionally flattering silhouettes, but they all had a Michael Costello flair, through masterful drapery, use of beading and lace, exaggerating the shoulders or adding a plunging neckline. Even the sheerest of dresses looks elegant but undeniably sexy – the perfect reminder of why Beyonce wore his design to the 2014 Grammys. Most obsessed with: the mint green floral number with a high center slit and dramatic train styled with pulled back sleek hair and topped with a golden crown.

Ricardo Seco
Mexican designer Ricardo Seco’s DREAM collection was the epitome of NYC cool kid chic. Loosely fitted black and white shapes served as the perfect blank canvas for hand-beaded embellishments. The beading was bold and geometric, tying in symbols of Wixárika culture. Highlights: clean white zip-up jumpsuit, custom-beaded New Balance sneakers, and of course, the too-beautiful-to-cruise-on skateboards. Seco ended the show staged in 7 World Trade Center by raising the shades behind the models, causing a dramatic change in lighting and revealing the 9/11 Memorial below.

Shake Shack: Coming to Herald Square

Great news: Shake Shack is coming to Herald Square in the fall of 2015. The New York Post reported earlier this morning that Shake Shack will open a 3,265 square-foot space on the southwest corner of Broadway and 36th Street in the same building that houses the new Urban Outfitters.

1333 Broadway, with Urban Outfitters, its Hairroin Studio and Intelligentsia coffee outposts, and the incoming Shake Shack, is going to be quite the dining and retail powerhouse in Herald Square.

Fashion Week Spring / Summer 2015: Lie Sangbong, Czar by Cesar Galindo, and Custo Barcelona

Lie Sang Bong
The beautiful glass tiles and moving butterfly backdrop were a loving and evocative setting for Lie Sang Bong's Spring / Summer collection, which honored children lost in a ferry accident off of South Korea. The line included architectural pieces and menswear silhouettes juxtaposed with delicate prints and fabrics, creating a strong, feminine, yet dreamy look. The color palette ran mainly to white and sky blues, with the occasional addition of  violet and black.

Czar by Cesar Galindo
Titled “The Get Away Collection” with the aim to capture the jet-set lifestyle, Cesar Galindo’s collection for Spring / Summer 2015 certainly felt society-glam ready. The presentation posed models on top of a white cloud of paper in sea greens, yellow, and coral tones in familiar bandeau and skirt combos. Sequins and metallic were woven into the collection for a few evening looks. Seated in front of the models were artists sketching the looks, each one offering their own interpretation of the styles in front of them.

Custo Barcelona
Custo Barcelona's show this season, titled “Skin," focused on cut-outs, mesh fabrics, and a whole lot of transparency. Custo Dalmau’s trademark of standout patterns, including animal prints, abstract geometry, florals, and elements of Japanese graphics, were seen in vibrant tones of mint, blues, red, and metallic. But not everything is quite so loud and daring this spring, as delicate whites and a bit more black than usually seen on the Custo runway balanced the collection. Transparent jumpsuits, cleverly cut swimsuits, and cropped bandeau and skirt sets are definite must-haves next spring for the bold Custo girl.
