The NFL Shop at Draft Pop-Up

I'm guest-posting today over at the Bryant Park blog, as yesterday I attended the press preview at the NFL Shop at Draft pop-up across the street from the park at 41st Street and Sixth Avenue. This is the first NFL pop-up ever, and it's packed full of exclusives and new merchandise. The store opens on Monday, and the first 500 in line to enter the pop-up get a commemorative NFL coin

More exciting surprises at the NFL store? Great items for women, including a line of Italian bags:

Yes, that's a green suede Jets bag and I'm kind of dying over it. If you're a fan of football, you've got to check out this store.

Click for more info on the NFL Shop at Draft.

Shopping the Season: The Holiday Shops at Bryant Park

Visit me over at the Bryant Park blog today and on Saturday for my contribution to the "Shop the Season" posts featuring The Holiday Shops at Bryant Park. I work on the holiday shops for Bryant Park during the year, so I'm biased, but I'll throw down with anyone who thinks we don't have one of the best holiday markets in New York City. Don't miss it! The shops, the skating rink, Bryant Park, it's the perfect, festive, all-in-one holiday outing.

You'll miss out on body lotion candles and rubber band shooters if you don't shop The Holiday Shops!

The Holiday Shops at Bryant Park
Monday – Friday: 11am – 8pm
Saturday: 10am – 9pm
Sunday: 10am – 6pm

*Extended hours run December 15-30. Some shops may be open on Christmas Day.

alice + olivia for Spring 2012

Repost! I first published this today over at the Bryant Park blog. There's a fabulous alice + olivia boutique on the south side of the park on 40th Street. It's a must visit for the perfect pants and/or dress.

Really, what's more spring than this?

There is nothing more spring than a shoe tree. That pretty much says it all about the alice + olivia presentation for Spring 2012, as the clothes, too, were spring perfection with fabulous and feminine touches. At designer Stacey Bendet's presentation during New York Fashion Week, the Veuve was flowing, the towers of mini Sprinkles cupcakes beckoned, and a cavernous room full of alice + olivia charmed everyone. Naturally, we all lingered as long as possible and took in all of this:

A favorite model tableau from the alice + olivia spring collection. Shoe tree in background.

Look for these black and white concoctions in the Bryant Park boutique next spring, and click to view more gorgeous styles after the jump. [click here to view more photos at the Bryant Park blog!]

Previewing Uniqlo at Bryant Park

This post first appeared today on the Bryant Park blog. I'm repurposing! And I'm anticipating Friday, October 21st, when we on 34th Street will have our very own Uniqlo. See? SwamiLeon has been hard at work. Bless you, SwamiLeon.

As we all eagerly anticipate the grand opening of not just one but two Uniqlos in Midtown (including a three-story space on 34th Street), the Japanese retailer has teased us with pop-ups all over town. Now Bryant Park has one of her own, a formidable space on the southwest corner of 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue.

Yes, this is the same space Target well-utilized to kick-off their Liberty of London and Missoni collaborations. Uniqlo will be in residence here until the 8th of October. I highly recommend a visit to properly ring in the fall season with some packable down coats, vests, cashmere sweaters, and a perfect tapered jean.
Resisting Mickey and Minnie T's is impossible.

It's been years since I tried on Uniqlo in the Soho store, but it was everything I remembered it to be: great fitting, well-cut inexpensive clothing that focus on the basics. Somehow Uniqlo's basics are never boring.

Voila: A great basic to wear with skinny jeans or leggings. Mine above are the Uniqlo skinny fit tapered and they fit like a designer jean. These are $49.90. I'm trying to show off the boat-neck shoulder detail that makes this staple modern and chic. This tunic ($149.90 for 100% cashmere) also comes in a deep red color but only in XS because it's fabulous so all us Midtown shoppers have snatched up the Ss, Ms, Ls, and XLs. Want to see more? Peruse...more photos at the Bryant Park blog, where the jump break isn't broken as mine seems to be...but if I've already convinced you with my one adorable tunic go to 42nd and Sixth pronto before you miss out on other gorgeous colors in your size.

Shopping Bryant Park: The Original Penguin Store

Sometimes, I'm The Bryant Park Shopper and I cross-post for our sister company.

Why is this guy being coy with an Original Penguin bag? I suspect it has a lot to do with this. Nothing like retail happy hours! Click on that link to read more about the Original Penguin Bryant Park store happy hour tomorrow night from 5-7pm.

Bringing Bryant Park Home: The Subway Signs

Have you seen these subway signs at our sister blog?

For those who reminisce about Fashion Week in Bryant Park, these are a great gift idea. But if you're not up for committing to a big subway sign, there are smaller versions like the one below, and also T-shirts, chairs, and even a coloring book available for sale at the Bryant Park shop

I love the above shot. Oh, how well I know those signs! Almost as good as the 34th Street subway signs under Broadway. Now one of those is totally on my Christmas wish list. What? It's almost May, people! One can never prepare one's husband too early for proper gifting.

It's Holiday Shops Time!

It scares me a little that I'm all gung-ho about holiday shopping weeks before Thanksgiving. Usually my holiday shopping is more like speed dating: "Hi, you're cute, my dad's going to love you, I'm taking you home." But last year I was out on maternity leave during the holiday season, so this year I'm practically the official Holiday Shops at Bryant Park cheerleader. On Twitter, on Facebook, and now on not one but two blogs, I'm all H-O-L-I-D-A-Y-S-H-O-P-S.

Yes, you can get that delicious-looking soap from Soap Creek Company in Bryant Park. I'll be covering the shops over at our sister Bryant Park blog again this year, and Intern Craig is helping. Look for our "Shop the Season" posts there every Tuesday. Thursdays you can find our staff picks. Also, there's some pretty delicious food in the Holiday Shops this year, so drop by during lunch and dine your way around the park while finding the perfect stocking stuffer/luxurious bar soap.

The Holiday Shops at Bryant Park

Shop HBO

For a little shopping HBO-style, drop by Fashion Herald's sister blog that covers all things Bryant Park. Last Friday I posted there about the HBO Shop and its Halloween-appropriate True Blood windows.

The shop is located on the ground floor of the HBO building on 6th Avenue and 42nd. Just walk north of the Starbucks that is always, always busy and always has a line, one reason why I frequent the 'wichcraft kiosk in Bryant Park across the street. Also, 'wichcraft's coffee is better. But I digress: HBO fans must drop by the HBO store before or after strolling through the park because they can browse all the Sex and the City, Sopranos, and True Blood stuff right in the building where it all happens. OK, not the actual filming, but you know what I mean. Go here for more photos and to discover the True Blood Authentic Beverage. Guess what it looks like?
