Broadway Bites Makes Me Go YUM!

If you work in the 34th Street District and you've been under a rock (or tied to your computer screen) for the last couple weeks, this is your reminder to get out into Greeley Square and enjoy the culinary fabulousness that is Broadway Bites.
YUM.
Brought to you by Urban Space, the same company that does Mad. Sq. Eats, this is a food market not to be missed. It's open daily from 11am-9pm (through August 1st) so you've got a lot of options to avoid huge lunch crowds. I stopped by right at noon today (below) and devoured a shrimp taco (above) from Seoul Lee Korean Barbecue, and am planning on returning soon for their wings. Seoul Lee is just a small sample of great nom-nom'ing options, but I also recommend trying newcomers Breads Bakery (yeah, bread) and Mimi & Coco (teriyaki balls!), in addition to delicious standbys like Red Hook Lobster Pound and Roberta's. Of course, you must use #bwaybites to Instagram all the pretty food you'll be enjoying in Greeley Square this summer.

Broadway Bites
Greeley Square, between 32nd and 33rd Streets and Broadway and Sixth Avenue
Open daily 11am-9pm through August 1st, 2014

Roastown Coffee Hits 34th Street

There's a new coffee on 34th Street. I rarely get through a 34th Street shopping trip without a coffee stop, so having an organic source pop up on the west end of the street was like Christmas in May.

Roastown coffee, find it on the northeast corner of W. 34th Street & 8th Avenue.
Next time, I'm going during lunch hour because the salad bar looks fantastic. Those avocados were begging to be photographed.

A fro-yo wall? A variety of fresh fruit options, sushi, seaweed salad, and edamame? We're getting healthy on 34th Street, which is crucial for us shoppers looking for a light bite in-between dressing room excursions. But don't visit just for lunch because this healthy food bar is open 24 hours a day.

Beer Garden Opens for Thirsty Shoppers

Because shopping on 34th Street is often an afternoon long jaunt that can leave a girl awfully parched, we would like to let you know about the newest addition joining our 34th Street restaurant offerings: a beer garden. Yes, right across from Madison Square Garden, down the street from Macy's Herald Square, H&M, Footaction, and Swarovski (and perhaps soon DSW), there will be a new, 6,000 square-foot beer garden.

Rendering of the beer garden from Local West. The big building is Duane Reade, Local West is to the left, and on the right is Lucy's Cantina Royale.

Pretty, yes? The good people at Local are bringing us shady trees, picnic-style communal tables (as well as cozy 2-tops), 16 different craft beers, a menu of handcrafted soft pretzels, kettle corn, and sausages, all in close proximity to Madison Square Garden and the best of 34th Street shopping. Meet your friends for a nosh, meet the guys before heading to a game, or meet your friends and then meet some guys. It's all good, and it should be opening in early June.

The Beer Garden (name is TBD) enter on 33rd or 34th Streets just off of Eighth Avenue
