34th Street Weekend Update

There is a lot of 30-off on 34th Street this weekend, like dresses for 30% off at Old Navy, 30% off all outerwear at H&M, and an extra 30% off all clearance items at jcpenney. Updated to add: Gap has an extra 30% off sale styles through tomorrow.

In non-retail news, south of 34th Street should be getting power back at some point this weekend, but if you need to charge up electronics while in Midtown, B&H has you covered at 34th Street and Ninth Avenue (until 2pm today, closed on Saturday, back on Sunday). If you're closer to Broadway, stop by Greeley Square and hit up our charging station.

Greeley Square charging station.

While you're at Greeley you'll be able to stop by the 'wichcraft kiosk and get some coffee and sandwiches, as they re-opened yesterday. Take care, all, and I hope everyone has heat and power this weekend.

More Post #Sandy 34th Street Updates

I'm happy to say Herald and Greeley Square Parks have now re-opened, and our sister company Bryant Park is open with limited hours. New York is recovering, but still needs help. Click here to help out Hudson River Park tomorrow, and click here to sign up for relief projects through New York Cares. There's also a great neighborhood list of volunteer opportunities at WNYC.org.

I'd like to say thanks to New York retailers like B&H Photo Video, who today set up a charging station outside their store at 34th Street and Ninth Avenue for public use. How awesome is that? Here's to neighbors helping neighbors.

HP Project Runway Party

At Style Coalition Lounge testing the HP TouchSmart. I'm in the background talking about how I want Bert to win.

Last week I attended the Project Runway Season 9 premiere viewing party at the Style Coalition lounge, and got a chance to try out HP's TouchSmart desktop. There was a Project Runway-like design challenge going on, but my artistic ability is limited to stick figures so I sat that one out. However, as mom to a girl who loves to draw and is obsessed with my iPhone, this HP desktop is a potential lifesaver. I can see her spending a good hour creating on that screen, and hey, that's stimulating and educational, right?

The winner of the challenge, Clutch 22's Jordana, drawing right on the screen. Users have multiple options with drawing tools and colors. Also, note the lack of tower. It's all inside, a big yes for us apartment dwellers.

Where on 34th Street can a chic tech mom get the desktop preferred by Project Runway? B&H Photo and Video, of course. B&H is the fashion industry's go-to tech and photography resource. Just ask any Fashion Week photographer or international blogger if they visit B&H before, during, and/or after NY Fashion Week, and you'll hear Yes.

Dying to try your chops on a Runway Design Challenge? Go here and enter to win a TouchSmart PC or EliteBook Tablet and learn more about all of HP's Project Runway tech tools.
