Fashion's Night Out at Macy's Herald Square: The Recap

Intern LCogs covers Fashion's Night Out on 34th Street, namely Macy's Herald Square...

Fashion's Night Out is the year's biggest shopping night full of special events, celebrities, and goodies. Macy's Herald Square topped them all on 34th Street this year with a store full of designer and celebrity appearances, and a street full of dancers.

Celebrities in attendance included Michael Kors, Britt Roberston, John Luzzini and Debi Mazar, Clinton Kelly, B. Michael, Walter Baker, Scott Disick, Rickie De Sole, Bethenny Frankel, Emily Maynard, and Tommy Hilfiger. While the celebrity areas were naturally packed full of shoppers, I was lucky to get a photo of Tommy Hilfiger and Britt Roberston.

I also caught a glimpse of John Luzzini and Debi Mazar sharing tips about food preparation and entertaining in New York City.

But even with the glamorous celebrities inside the store, my favorite part of the night was the dance party happening outside the store in Herald Square. Everyone was smiling and enjoying themselves.

Let's hope Macy's makes this an annual event during Fashion's Night Out, because it's not every day one happens upon a dance party in Herald Square!

Fashion's Night Out Fashion on 34th Street

There's a listing of 34th Street events here, but I thought I'd post a few choice picks for the evening. But first, the Fashion's Night Out gear you can find at Macy's Herald Square on the second floor:

The tank ($20. This is an XL because I wanted to see how long it'd be. IRL I'd call the XL an L) and the back of the sweatshirt, $60.

The front of the sweatshirt without hood, with hood.

You can also find FNO gear on 34th Street at JCPenney, Lane Bryant, Sephora, and Swarovski. And some highlights to mark for the night?

  • You've got to drop by Daffy's windows at Herald Square, where four models will be trying on clothes determined by viewers text messages shown on a screen inside the window. They will be stripping down to their skivvies and texting back to the audience, so all-in-all an entertaining and interactive event.
  • Macy's Herald Square can also not be missed for the big Tommy Hilfiger tailgating event with Train performing, and tons of celebrity & designer appearances inside including Joss Stone for Nine West, Rachel Roy, Diddy, and Oscar de la Renta. Go here for more details.
  • At JCPenney we'll be dropping by to see Charlotte Ronson, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Sam Ronson celebrate with styling tips, wine, and cupcakes.
  • Swarovski will have champagne, chocolate, and a special gift for those who drop by. Also, spend $100 or more and get a free crystal tattoo.
  • There will be four drawings throughout the evening to win a Famous Footwear shoe shopping spree - 30 seconds to run through and grab!

Fashion's Night Out on 34th Street

Photo from WWD.com.

Is this FNO thing gaining tons of steam or what? I'm very curious to read the recaps, because who can be everywhere from 6-11pm next Thursday, September 10th? But I'm happy to say there are some tempting events happening on 34th Street, so I should be able to run around for a few hours, then go home and elevate the feet. Here's the 34th Street listings (click the store links for full information and times), but be sure to visit Fashion's Night Out Website, Facebook, and/or Twitter for updates and more information.

Body Shop, Manhattan Mall, 33rd & 6th Ave. Get top tips on Fall make-up looks by their beauty experts. Then strike a pose for the 'paparazzi,' and your style is shown from a spectacular billboard in the Meatpacking District. 5 seconds towards your 15 minutes of fame, check!

JCPenney, Manhattan Mall, 33rd & 6th Ave. Cindy Crawford is in-store to meet fans from 6-7pm. See? What a night. I'll definitely be dropping by several stores, so give me a heads-up if you're around 34th Street. And don't forget your FNO T-shirt. They're in store now on 34th Street at Macy's Herald Square (2nd fl.), JCPenney, The Body Shop, Sephora Herald Square, and Victoria's Secret. The short-sleeved T is $30, and the long is $35. I'd get to one of these stores soon and pick it up, especially the long-sleeved one. On the FNO Facebook page, everyone seems to be clamoring for the long-sleeved T-shirt. 40% of T-shirt proceeds go to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.

Also, if you're going to be in Bryant Park on Thursday, check out my post today on the Bryant Park blog. Get listings of stores around the park that will be participating in Fashion's Night Out, (be sure to check out Lord & Taylor's events, the BCBG in-store fashion show, and Payless at 5th & 39th, where you can pick up an FNO tote), and find Bryant Park stores where you can drop off donated clothing.
