Common query found in magazines each new season: "If you could only get one new item this season, what would it be?" I think I'd be really interested in the answer if the ante were upped. As in, "Dear Fashion Editor/NYC socialite/other big shot: You can only get one new item this season. For real. Name it!" Certainly it will no longer be "long cardigan layering piece," but "Balenciaga LBD! No, wait, the YSL pants! Nooo, shit, a Balmain dress!"
Here's something I had to buy right away this season:
No, this isn't my pick. But last winter I didn't look for fingerless gloves till December. And then they were nowhere to be found. So when I saw these at H&M on 34th Street, I snatched up two pairs (one extra to make up for last year's pain; they're $7.80). These gloves aren't even exactly what I wanted. And once home I thought "totally impractical for winter!" Then I thought "layering piece!"Anything dumb you buy this year can be dubbed "layering piece." And you, is there something you have to have?
