Mashable reported this morning that "Macy’s has added a new feature to its iPhone app that provides indoor turn-by-turn directions for its massive flagship location in New York City’s Herald Square, courtesy of Meridian, the software startup behind an indoor GPS platform."

INDOOR GPS. Awesome. Even I, who have been shopping Macy's Herald Square for years, must on occasion ask a sales staffer for the location of a specific department. Although I spend about 98% of my Macy's Herald Square time in the Impulse department, there is that other 2% when I need to find Santaland, bathing suits, and kids shoes. Now there's a scary shopping profile.
My iPhone: Love the app, clean design and easy to use. According to Mashable comments, it was designed by Raizlabs. |
A few of my favorite things: the Shoe Salon on 2 with designer call-outs, and Contemporary and Impulse on 3.
This afternoon I'm going to navigate Macy's floors and see if the app is up and running. Then I'd like some clever app people to start working on the "find your keys and your favorite long black sweater" indoor GPS app. It has to work through multiple piles of clothing and stacks of unread New Yorkers and WWDs, thanks.
