Socialista New York & Kensie Jewelry

Just before Fashion Week, I was invited to Socialista New York's first Chamgpagning #DateChat event at RSVP Restaurant and Bar. It was the perfect venue and event for some pre-fashion week socializing. And it's where I discovered that Kensie now has fabulous jewelry:

These pieces are right up my alley: lots of metal with an art-deco feel, so very  NYC. I'm looking for it at Macy's Herald Square, where stylish, budget-minded girls can find the Kensie clothing line. Check out Kensie's Spring '13 collection on Fashionista New York Girl.

And the event itself? Champagne and a Socialista party with Amy of Midtown Girl can only equal fun! Also, there was a #DateChat game, and I'm a total sucker for party games.

It goes down so easy. Thanks, Champagning NYC!

Kensie at Macy's Herald Square

Kensie is one of those labels I've been curious about but never thoroughly checked out. You can find it on 34th Street at Macy's Herald Square on the second floor. I walk by the department all the time in Macy's, and always something catches my eye. So a few weeks ago I did a full-on try-on.

Never a dull moment at Kensie. Here it's "Look ma, no side seams!" I like the heavy knit.

This little fur vest ($78) is very Flinstones-fun.

Hard to see unless you click on photos, but these leggings ($28) are designed to be cut for the length you desire. Clever!

Scarf is attached to this Missoni-esque knit ($68). Which produced lots of photos of me doing a little dramatic head wrapping.

Nothing too unusual, but I like the big cowl sweater and the long scarf.

My only big miss, not so bad in black but hey, the string-tassel thing fell off once I tied it! Too much at $98.

The Hat Wins

Often my store pics don't do full justice to the clothing as I'm like a crow, I get distracted by the shiny objects and rarely put them all together to make the full, cohesive look. I leave that for the big guys and the outfit bloggers.

So I love to get pictures like these! Lindsey, above, on a little Southern America tour and utilizing her big H&M hat we posted last week in store. I am proud of this one, as I know she was on the fence and bought it just because I loved it. And if you can name the town that cemetery's in (think of a book title that begins with "Midnight..."), I'll send you free fake nails from Revlon! I'm mailing these out this week, so put your order in now! I'm tired of bumping into the big box o'nails and lashes.

Misc. 34th Street News:

  • Kensie event with Glamour at Macy's Herald Square on the 2nd floor at 6pm. RSVP was by the 12th, but surely you can go and watch? And I'm a big fan of Kensie's chic, inexpensive styles

Just Jackets (& Blazers)

I've got all kinds of jackets on the brain. Although I'm really wanting a long blazer that's yet to be found, here are a few other styles. First, from Macy's Herald Square:

Kensie ~ that first 3/4 sleeved black one is all me ($76.80 on sale). Come to mama. But as you can see, girls w/shoulders should avoid the very cute black w/white piping ($50.40 on sale, middle hounds tooth $118).

Plastic Island ~ $348, and could be an evening coat. I thought it was good kooky; perhaps it will look better on a different body type. Or a blond. Or not at all? And make note, when you google "plastic island," this comes up second. WTF? We're doomed. Please don't buy this and then dump into the ocean.

Ben Sherman ~ Ben! Mannish tailoring is always a big hit w/me. The grey ($129) is very short. And hello, put the seersucker-ish pinstripe ($129) on sale already.

A couple from Zara:

Oh, I have a lovely romance going w/plaid ($149). They should just give me this. And the black trim ($169)! Kind of steampunk, right? I'd love it with these goggles.
