César Galindo presented a multi-dimensional collection of ready-to-wear for Fall 2014. Galindo incorporated both high fashion and chic sporty elements into his line to create clothing easy to wear, yet visually interesting and comfortable for performance. Though his vividly colorful prints were standouts, his black pieces were the most appealing, especially a stunning hooded, patterned leather parka and a hooded, floor-length knit sweater. The models' slicked-back hair highlighted with blue at the temple added an extra edge to the overall sleek and functional looks.
Nigerian designer
Deola Sagoe held her first-ever solo show
at New York Fashion Week, presenting a ready-to-wear collection that featured reinterpretations
of her couture designs. The pieces ranged from cropped separates to lace
evening gowns, a combination that at times felt a bit disjointed. But what the collection
lacked in cohesion, it made up in fashion showmanship. The artistry of each piece and their innovative shapes were truly impressive.
