she said military jacket (on sale for $39.99, add weekend coupons for less) from JCPenney Manhattan Mall this week, and plaid she said jacket from January
I'm just so impressed by this she said line at JCPenney, it's becoming a problem. Because, on my way to other departments, I always stop in the she said/I Heart Ronson/Twelfth of Eleven section and grab armfuls of clothes, then get stuck in the dressing room trying to fix the lighting for photos by covering the lights with my jeans (fail!), and then never get over to the Liz or ana sections. I need to go the other way when I get off the escalator.
$39.99 online. This is one of the few times I can say I like this jacket on me better than the model online. The shoulders look weird on her, I'm confused, is she crunching them up? It's so much more cute in person.
Oh, and you might plan on picking up some very soft Twelfth of Eleven shirts on sale soon because the brand is no longer online (you get shirts when you search, but there's no 12th of 11 section anymore). I'm wondering if it is being discontinued? Emailing PR people now...
Update: no definite word yet, but they have not heard that it is axed, so perhaps it's on summer hiatus?

Practically Free Boyfriend Shirt

Tedious, my going on and on about this white boyfriend shirt from JCPenney's she said, but I dropped by JCPenney Manhattan Mall today to finally buy it. I was expecting it to be $17.99, the clearance price listed and confirmed by the price-check scanner (addictive!). But at the register it became $5.97. I then asked the clerk several times "Really? It's just $5?" How quickly $5.97 turns to $5.00 in my shopping brain. And because I had saved so much money, I ran to infants to get Baby Herald something.*
American Living denim jumper for babies, $17.99 on sale. Seahorse sold separately.
Moral of this shopping story: Go to JCPenney and help them move out their clearance because now it's all practically free.
*And my purchases were actually free as I used a $25 gift card received at the JCPenney Back-to-School press preview.

Heels, Deals, and More on 34th Street
While on 34th Street last Saturday, I dropped by Payless on 34th and Broadway to find one pair of Siriano talon heels left in the whole store in lucky size 8:
Also, I tried on this boyfriend-cut white shirt by she said that was all over my March Lucky Magazine. I love it, and it's on sale now for $17.99. There were a couple smalls, and lots of mediums and larges. It's huge, but not in a bad way as one can wear it over leggings or tuck it into jeans.

And last, Bare Escentuals is there for you and your quest for an impeccable complexion. This is a $136 value for $34, while supplies last.

Bringing It up to $100
I'm at $85.95, so how's the last $14.05 spent at JCPenney Manhattan Mall?

Basics, of course. The she said striped T is $5.99 down from $30. And the pocket Henley T from twelfth of eleven is $8.99 from $44. Stock up on the twelfth of eleven T's on sale because they're soft and make for perfect underpinnings.
So if you do the math, you'll note I'm 93 cents over $100. But when you get 7 cute pieces for $100.93, who's counting the .93?!

More JCPenney $100 Challenge for NYFW
Today=$44.97. The two day total is 5 items for $85.95, and all are from JCPenney in Manhattan Mall.
I'll start with another black item. Well, I've only got $100, and it is February in New York City. Asymmetric cardigan by she said, $8.99. I love the boxy cut of this and the lightweight, slightly see-through fabric. But I must admit, it's itchy. Layer it.
Polka dot burnout top by she said. I love the length and the dots. $17.99.

This is one of the she said pieces that made my jaw drop a little. Usually if I buy a jacket, I'm spending some money. I was worried I'd get this home, think "looks cheap," and return it the next day. But nope, it's still hanging in the closet, and I'm wearing it next week. Nice designing, JCPenney. Was $68, now $17.99.

JCP for NYC Fashion Week Hundred Dollar Challenge
Enc of Observation Mode asked me a good question on comments a few weeks ago: "Why didn't you buy the [H&M] cream top?" Here's why: while checking out what's in stores on 34th Street, I've been thinking of Make Do Style's New Year Style Challenge, which basically is stop frittering the $$ and save it by not spending till the end of March. Then buy one beautiful piece.
I didn't officially join the challenge, so I felt unworthy to post the Girlynomics badge. But it has made me stop and think before I spend, which, in combination with a new baby and a husband in grad school, was the icing on the incentive to save.
But Fashion Week looms and again, I've got nothing to wear. Really. So I decided to do a personal modified challenge: $100 for Fashion Week clothes (not including shoes). I wasn't going to do just one store, but then I found myself tearing through the I Heart Ronson, she said section of JCPenney Manhattan Mall, and, an hour or so later, agreeing with the girl ringing up my seven purchases for $100 who said "Aren't these cute?" I do love the approval of a young fashion clerk.
I'm starting with the ones that got away. Shoes ($34.99):

And a I Heart Ronson fur vest, listed for $62.99 online(was $90), but it may be further marked down in store:

More from the JCPenney $100 Challenge through the week.
