Mathieu Mirano Spring 2014

The designer talking with guests at his SS '14 presentation
Mathieu Mirano, at 22, has got some major fashion designer skills. His workmanship is always a joy to see up close and personal at his presentations in Lincoln Center. The aesthetic is controlled and minimal in silhouette, while the creativity and sex appeal gets worked out in the details.

Loved this set-up. Very tension-inducing, as the crowd was funneled into a point in front of the stage entrance, like "Look! Now turn around and use those elbows to get the hell out."
Time for a few official photos from WWD.com.

The dark beauties. I love the addition of the vest on the left, as I tired a bit of the bustier/bra-top silhouette on its own.

Clearly the divas of the collection.

Shiny neutral and shiny dark. Adored the moody one on the right, of course.

Simple, sexy perfection, and cut like a dream. Clearly, Mathieu Mirano is a big luxury up-and-comer in the fashion world.

NYFW Events: vbeauté at Duane Reade

Revive yourself mid-fashion week and meet the founder of vbeauté, Julie Macklowe, at Duane Reade Herald Square tomorrow, September 11th, from 1pm-2pm. Schedule a free mini-facial and get a travel-sized gift with your full-size purchase! Macklowe's skin products are paraben-free, fragrance-free, gluten-free, nut-free, and oat-free, so they are a dream for those of us with sensitive skin, or those who want anti-aging products but without the parabens and irritants found in many popular brands.

I love how Duane Reade gives us so many fabulous beauty options. If you can't make the event tomorrow, be sure to shop the second floor of Duane Reade at Herald Square, where you'll find an amazing assortment of product in their LOOK boutique!

Nicholas K Spring 2014

Photo 1 from Nicholas K

Get ready for all white layers for Spring '14. Nicholas and Christopher Kunz, of Nicholas K, kicked off this season's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week with a nod to the Apache reservation they grew up next to in Tucson, Arizona. Their signature, laid-back drapery was styled with feathers, headband wraps, and center parted fish tail braids to evoke a Native American tribal vibe.

These slouchy, open-toed boots that look stunning in both ankle and knee-high lengths are my number one must-have for next spring. With lightweight fabrics and loose sheer elements, the layering in the collection feels breezy and fresh. I can't get enough of their white-on-white looks.

The color palette ranged in muted tones of earthy browns, warm charcoal grays, khaki, and dusky purples. Oversized jackets were balanced with shorts, and crop leather jackets were layered with loose cardigans and light knits. Proportions and tailoring was carefully maintained to keep silhouettes from becoming sloppy or overwhelming on the figure. Overall, the collection showed great everyday separates for your wardrobe.

The Nicholas K menswear line perfectly echoed its feminine counterpart with beautifully made jackets layered over linen button-downs and slouchy shorts.

H&M and Unicef Team Up for Halloween

Today I just want to say: THANK YOU H&M. Thank you for providing us parents with awesome Halloween costumes that aren't just pretty princesses or scary monster masks. Also, thank you for giving 25% of all proceeds of these fabulous costumes to UNICEF's work in Bangladesh to improve access to quality education.

The accessories for this collection are also the best. Anchor tights and a puppy dog purse? I'm going to be spending my entire October allowance on this collection. I mean, we wear the H&M animal Halloween masks year-round. I could get multiple costumes and my girl will be going to school in December as a denim mermaid.

The collection will be available online October 3rd and in-stores beginning October 10th.

Desigual NYFW Live Stream Party!

I love that Desigual is doing this tomorrow:

When their show hits the Theatre at Lincoln Center at 3pm tomorrow afternoon for New York Fashion Week, you can watch it live at their new store on Fifth Avenue. This might be even more fun than being at the actual show, as you can meet your friends, enjoy drinks, food, music, and "surprises!" Also, you won't be standing in lines and jockeying for seats or pushing your way to a view in standing room. New York Fashion Week is not always all about the glamour, trust me.

Desigual fans, don't miss it!

DSW Shoe(s) of the Week: Opposites Attract

Because we bumped the Shoe of the Week last week for the H&M Herald Center news, we're doing two DSW styles this week. Clearly, they live on opposite ends of the shoe spectrum.
These Zanottis: no bells and whistles but perfection all the same.
I've always wanted a white ballet flat to wear with blue denim.
Although they are opposites, these two could get you through many days of New York Fashion Week. Those Le Mie Ballerines will fit nicely in your bag, and your Zanottis will strut you nicely across Lincoln Center Plaza. Yes, you need both, what girl doesn't?!
