Twitter Rumors

Thanks to Twitter, I heard rumors of a Payless fire on 34th Street a few weeks ago. Ack! Panic! No, no, it's OK, I think it was a 34th Street in Houston or something. But you know I love my Payless on 34th & Broadway, so here's a little update of what I found in store:

These alice+olivia's are on sale, and are so cute I visit them every time I'm on 34th Street.

Remember the leather Converse from Lady Foot Locker? My favorites, maybe ever.

These Abaete's are now on sale for $19.99. Love these nautical wedges.

More alice+olivia stalking: I've had my eye on that pink leopard wedge for a while. Don't you think they're perfect for stroller pushing down 34th Street?

Last, a new a+o obsession, the white basketweave wedge, now also on sale for $19.99. I see myself in a white hair scarf and black bikini *cough,* I mean black maternity swimwear, strolling the boardwalk in my white basketweaves...and this particular beach fantasy can take place on the Jersey shore and involve tiki bars and video arcades. I'm not picky this summer, just give me some beach.

Payless Goes Granola

Payless on 34th Street finally has a granola rep in house, the new zoe&zac line. Organic materials, recycled rubber, cute styles for that sort of thing, and when you buy a pair one dollar is donated to The Nature Conservancy. Well done, Payless.

V. adorable sneaker ($19.99) for summer dresses. And like the simple sandal ($24.99) but the t-strap hurt. Although I think my feet are growing so it's not you z&z, it's me.

And while there I couldn't help but notice these:

Some new Abaete, ahoy to the Helm, $38. That is a 4 1/2 inch heel so start walking the plank, girls.

I try this on every time I'm in store ($36). You know, shiny things a girl can't resist...go on sale glitter flat!

Dexter polka dot bow flat, on sale for $16.99.

The new stuff sent me online where I saw these:

New alice+olivia's for Payless, all $38.

Where are the new Patricia Field's? No one better say she's no longer collaborating with Payless! Don't be ruining my post-Easter high.

Update: And it's BOGO 1/2 off time again at Payless. Hmmm, glitter flat...

The Payless Spring Revue

I was practically singing and dancing on the second floor of Payless on 34th Street last evening. Across the street and safe from the free makeup queue outside Macy's Herald Square, I was yet again freaking out the sweet Payless salesgirls with my mirror shoe photography.

alice + olivia get best in show:

Patent sling wedge w/ square toe. You can't underestimate the height of alice + olivia wedges.

Sing it, "FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN." Pink leopard sling wedge? FUN. Not yet online.

Also not online are my absolute favorites, this perfect platform-heeled, sling strapped, shoe-boot thing. I was speaking in tongues when I first tried them on.

Can't forget the Abaete's, the would-be star of the show. I'm afraid they underwhelmed.

The gladiator sandal, see the baggy strap on the left? That was not in Lucky mag.
I'd also like to see the light blue version from the runway show, which would be great for spring's ubiquitous pastels.

The following really suffered from bad wardrobe. But I could not take stockings off on the floor of Payless and make the salesgirls run screaming.

Really need to go barefoot with these beige ones, & a mesh mule is no mesh bootie.

Perhaps later in the season we'll see the fabulous mesh boot? I'm just not a mule girl as we've got a bad history. Also, that Abaete heel is 4 inches and it makes a girl teeter. Honestly it doesn't feel like it can hold me up for long.

All in all, definitely a good show at Payless. I'm now going to get all shoe groupie on the hopefully incoming Patricia Field for Payless spring collection. I love how her shoes are released on a totally different schedule from the other designer collections. Obviously the diva of the show.

Bad Day, Good Shoes

When a girl is having a terrible, no good, very bad day, she goes to look at shoes. That's how I found these black alice + olivia ankle boots, size 9, at Payless on 34th Street. They're not free, like Farren's, but for $17 they're almost free. I'm taking bets that these are the last pair for sale in the world. What the heck, I'm in a dramatic mood.

And then I spotted the Patricia Field black platform, over-the-knee pirate boots. Definitely there are two size 9's left in store, and they're on sale for $47 (or $49?). And they are sold out online. And they are freaking hot on a girl's leg, and the fit is surprisingly sexy. There are virtually no baggy areas; instead they fit snug almost everywhere.

These boots go on forever. You will be very tall and pirate-like in these boots.

Tomorrow I'll post the new Abaete's, etc. Thanks to a keen-eyed tipster I was alerted to their presence on the website today, so I ran down to 34th Street to see if they are in store. Yes, they are in store. So are new Lela Rose's and new alice + olivia's. There's good news, and bad news, and then some really good news. But on the whole, Payless designer collections for spring are really killing it. Impressed.

Full Page Joy

Abaete for Payless $38 "Gabriel" gladiator sandals in February's Lucky Magazine. So deserving of a full-page shot. They're not in store now, but you'll get a review once they set a fabulous, complicated, and strappy foot on 34th Street. And Gabriel darling is just one part of what must be the hottest Payless shoe collaboration yet. Don't forget my ravings about these from the Abaete Spring '09 show:

Double joy. Thank you, Laura Poretzky.

A Little Afternoon Payless

(Be sure to check out the Comme des Garcons for H&M giveaway)

I must freak out the kids at Payless on 34th Street when the new designer collections hit the store. Like yesterday, when I visited and saw pretty new Lela Roses and Abaetes. I did the usual, gathered them round, had a chat (you're so pretty! no, you're so pretty!), took a walk around the second floor, and posed for a few pictures. It's a miracle security hasn't escorted me back out onto 34th Street.

Just hanging out:

And one-by-one: Lela Rose, white Abaete, black Abaete (all are $38, and right now it's BOGO 1/2 off):

I think this is my favorite. Although I love the black and white Abaete wedge, this strappy, peep-toe Lela Rose woven wedge is, dare I say, fabulous?

And remember the tall Patricia Field mocassin boot? It's now on sale for $59. Definitely worth a BOGO. I found the purple online. Whoa. I haven't seen it in store on 34th Street, but I'm very intrigued.

But you know I'm still highly anticipating these Abaete's, due out in spring:

Patricia Field Slaying Me At Payless

Patricia Field is killing me:

Tall, lace-up wedge moccasin boot with perfect fringe. Wow. $75. There is also a mind-boggling, tall, tall, tall, black platform boot. None in my size yet, so I couldn't try them on. But I did slip on these:

Love.
Muddled green, studs, medieval armor-visor thing in the back. Wow. Maybe $45? Wasn't really paying attention to price as I figured I'd find it on the website. Nope, not on website yet. These are fresh off the boat from China, people, sent straight to 34th Street. They also come in black. Get there quick, Pat Field's Payless shoes go fast.

Found At Payless

What I just got for $15 on sale at Payless on 34th & Broadway:

The box was hiding in a corner, tucked under a chair. These were part of the Abaete holiday collection, if I remember correctly. This was its flat sister, Betty:

The boots don't fit snug on the calf, which is a pet peeve of mine, but they are $15. And I couldn't say no to black satin folds, which makes them feel a little YSL because they scream tuxedo boot.

Other interesting Payless designer collaboration in-store updates:

I only saw two pairs of these fabulous red patent alice+olivia ($48) on 34th Street, one 9 and one 8 1/2. No black. I swear, the crazier the shoe the faster it's walking out of the store on 34th & B'way.

I only saw one pair of these a+o ($48) in a six. I really want these.

The Lela Rose fall '08 collection is beautiful. I saw one young, stylish girl trying these on ($34):

And another walked by in these ($38):

And if you're a size 9, there is one pair of Patricia Field silver sequin flats for $15. Think Dorothy but silver and flat. Get the red patent boot, BOGO the silver sequin and really, what more can a girl want?

Abaete on TV

Here's some pics of the Abaete Spring 2009 show. I was one person back from getting into the show today when they cut off the standing room line. Luckily I left the camcorder in the office and just used my trusty digital camera to shoot these:

I'm such a big shot they let me watch the show in the lobby, on TV, while the real show is going on just steps away. See how glamorous fashion week is?

Praying to Payless shoe god, let these be in Payless come Spring 2009.

Flirty! And no one looks good in that color
stocking.

Please be a unitard. I love you unitard + skirt!

Hmm, unitard+skirt to poufy pretty dress?

Yes to pinkier stockings.

Unitard, is that you? I love this, I could totally bike to work in it. And then get sent home. No, really, I know this is weird but I love weird. This is kind of why I love Laura Poretsky. That and her Payless diffusion line.

By the way, I even kissed ass by wearing these Abaete for Payless shoes:

Which was tough today after breaking in the new Abaete's yesterday, Fashion Week Day One:

Meet my new, favorite Fashion Week accessory:

**UPDATE** from Abaete's PR agency, news that makes me very happy. And shows me how bad TV picture color is:

Almost the same photo I have up there, and yet so very, very different;

Those are some hot, badass shoes and yes, they will be in Payless next spring. So praying to shoe gods does really work!
