Just a Couple Strawberry Picks

Shopping Strawberry Manhattan Mall is an experience that always entertains, as one is guaranteed to discover at least a couple great, inexpensive finds. The store is also chock full of the most fun clothing on the block.

I don't peruse Strawberry weekly, because I have to be in a mood. You know, some days you want the hunt, some days you don't. But if every time I drop by I find an irresistible Mickey tee or a scrambled egg-colored faux-leather jacket, then I'm a happy girl.

Best Fourth of July Gear in Town

The best source of kitschy Fourth of July clothing in Midtown, or maybe anywhere? Strawberry in Manhattan Mall, because the Stars and Stripes have taken over the store. It's awesome.

Fringe and lace backs amid a sea of patriotic leggings.

Can you spot the flag mini-skirt/tube top?

Two new styles for your flag vest collection.

Black flag for the hardcore patriot. Also, behind the flag crop top are Uncle Sam leggings. NOT joking.

Speechless.

Bags (and Rainboots) at Strawberry

While perusing my favorite shoe sale finds at Strawberry Manhattan Mall last week, my eye kept wandering to the bags hanging next to the shoe department.

There is a lot of clutch love going on at Strawberry.

olivia + joy. Perfect everyday bags.

Cobalt blue, orange, and black. How perfect for summer? I don't even mind the kind of wimpy scarf. Have you ever tied a big-ass scarf on your bag in the morning and thoroughly regretted it before you got to work? Or am I the only one who tries to work a big-ass scarf on my bag at 7am?

Obviously not bags, but Strawberry always has an adorable rainboot on display. Well done, buyers.

34th Street Weekend Sale Picks: Racks & Colors!

Intern LCogs writes up sales on 34th Street for the weekend...[Note: this post was scheduled to be published Friday, but was not made live! We apologize for the malfunction but still encourage you to check out Ruby and Jenna's really cute sales rack this week]

#1. Ruby and Jenna

Because they have a 50% off sale rack! They have a shelf of colorful jeans for 50% off as well (I tried on this orange pair and they were incredibly comfortable). I absolutely adore everything in this store. 1282 Broadway.

#2. jcpenney

Because they have a large clearance section! There are so many different pieces of clothing to chose from: shorts, dresses, shirts, tanks and jackets. Manhattan Mall, Lower Levels 1 & 2 (33rd St. & 6th Ave.).

#3. H&M

Because they've got a fantastic sale rack on the second floor! Apologies for the nude bra with the lacy shirt... I would suggest a black bra or tank to wear underneath. All of the clothing I tried on was from the sale rack on the second floor, aside from the jeans (which are only $20 and super comfortable). 47 W. 34th Street.

#4. Strawberry

Because they are having a storewide clearance sale! Such a great deal, and tons of cute clothes to chose from. Shop till you drop! Manhattan Mall, Levels 1 & 2 (33rd St. & 6th Ave.).

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend :)

34th Street Weekend Sale Picks: Dresses, Shoes & Accessories

Today, Intern LCogs posts her favorite weekend sales on 34th Street...

#1. Express

Because they’ve got a great variety of dresses for 30% off! Casual but fun. Perfect for the office or going out on the town. My favorite was the loose, flowing dress to the far left, with the bedazzled shoulder design. However, I liked every single one I tried on. They were all incredibly comfortable, which is a defining factor in my purchase decision.  Manhattan Mall, Level 1 (33rd St. & 6th Ave.)

#2. Joe Fresh

Because they're having a sale from 25% to 40% off! I'm usually not into this style, but as soon as I tried these dresses on I was in love. They're incredibly comfortable and would go great with flashy shoes and accessories!  215 West 34th Street

#3. Strawberry

Because they've got a deal on jewelry: buy 1 get 1 50% off! A colorful necklace and set of earrings would look great with a simple summer dress.  Manhattan Mall, Levels 1 & 2 (33rd St. & 6th Ave.)

#4. Payless

Because they've got summer sandals on sale! These American Eagle wedges are only $19.99.  213 West 34th Street

#5. DSW

Because they've got clearance up to 50% off! I know I just mentioned that Payless is having a sale, but there is something about DSW that is so irresistible. It's like walking into a candy shop... everything always looks so delicious! It's so hard for me to walk away from DSW without purchasing something.  213 West 34th Street

Strawberry's Spring

Strawberry is really good for spring/summer '12, particularly in the shoe and accessory department. The shoe selection at the Empire State Building locale is more robust than the Manhattan Mall store, as there seems to be more real estate dedicated to footwear. Right now it's packed full of espadrille and sandal love.

Fun, fun, fun is to be found on the lower level. If you think black and white striped espadrilles and trippy, I'm-not-quite-sure-what's-going-on clutches aren't fun, than I can't help you. Move along, please.

34th Street Weekend Sales Picks: The Heatwave Edition

#1. Billabong
Because they are having a BOGO 50% off the entire store sale. And the store is full of cool hot weather clothing, big sun hats, sunglasses, flip flops, and more.

From the Element collection, that never disappoints, on second floor of 34th Street store.
#2. Strawberry
Because there are lots of cute cropped tops and tanks on deep discount.

I don't really know what I'm trying to look like here, but I love the cropped  sweater and I bought those pants for $9.99 to wear at the gym, and maybe work. I might sleep in them too.

#3. Borders
Because you need books for the beach, and their liquidation sale has started. For now, most books are 10% off, a select few are 40%, and titles like romance are 30% off. This includes games, stationery, cds, dvds, etc.

Strawberry for Boots

I dropped by Strawberry* in the Empire State Building before the holiday, and had to take pictures of their great boot selection. I'm a longtime fan of the Strawberry shoe department, and I still am although I really dislike their new version of shoe display. I miss the old-school, display-shoe with boxes beneath technique, as opposed to the new, banana-clip en masse technique. But this will not dissuade me from picking up some of these for NYFW Fall '11:

These are $29.99, bargain!

Blurry photo, cute boots.
I think these are my favorites.

The classic 80's combat, it could have walked right out of Contempo Casuals.

Flat boots

20 inches of snow convince you to finally get practical snowboots? Try these Levi's.

*prices slashed for New Year!

Strawberry for Stripes

I walked into Strawberry at Manhattan Mall last week and got stuck in a rack full of stripes. Strawberry got the merchandising right with this one, as it is impossible for a stripe lover to pass up a rack full of 20+ striped tops.

These two were favorites: bat wings and optical stripes. None of the below was over $26, and the tanks were around $15.

Stripes and a butterfly bow? Rosettes, layered stripes? Yes, it was striped madness in Strawberry. And the tiny black, vinyl-padded dressing room evoking a hybrid porno/insane asylum set didn't help.

I loved this last striped top because it came with a halter-string underpinning which makes it look like you've got your bathing suit on underneath.

And I'll end with the fabulous silver Madden oxfords, above. I just have one complaint about the shoe section at the newly renovated Strawberry in Manhattan Mall: I hate how the shoes are displayed on these standing racks, hanging off plastic hooks. I know it saves space but it make them all look really cheap. Yes, inexpensive shoes displayed cheaply annoys me. I'd like my marked-down, secondary line shoes to be sitting on something, please.
