Happy Election Day + Daffy's Giveaway!

I'm a voting nerd. I love it all, New Yorkers complaining if they have to wait in line even if it's only 8 people long, volunteers behind tables guiding voters round the elementary school basement, the inevitable confusion amongst voting officials: "Found the list, found it! Table 92 had it!" I love the clanging sound of voting machines and the gathering of locals exercising their democratic rights. And I will die happy if, when I retire, I'm one of those little old lady volunteers who count ballots by hand in a close election. "What's that you say? 80,652?"

Me in my fantasy future, taking off my gloves so I don't miss any of those ballots.
Speaking of politics, here's a great little article about the election inspired by one of my favorite city squares. I love his description of our little triangle park and its inhabitants.

And in other Herald Square news, check out Daffy's new website, launched just yesterday. Be sure to click on "Buzz" for news on recent acquisitions (yes!) and "Found It/Love It," their video testimonials. And guess what? All you Daffy's shoppers out there can submit a "found it/love it" video for their website. Nice incentive for those of you who have delved into the whole "vlogging" aspect of "blogging." (Are these words even in a dictionary?)

And the first Fashion Herald commenter* to post a video on the Daffy's site is getting some extra incentive: a $25 Daffy's gift card. I'd do $50, but what if someone actually finds the "sting sweater" photo? Then I'm way over budget!

*send me an email when you've posted video

This election has been the most covered in all around the world.
Lots of countries are interested in it as soooo many citizens.

You'd make a fierce ballot counter and those shifty Republicans wouldn't have a chance trying to hoodwink you!!!

I give good a quote and/or sweeping generalization...but sometimes I think it's only for you and Jill at Trend de la Creme!

imelda - dang straight, see the glint in my eye? and I think more readers than you'll ever know appreciate your roll around on the ground quotes.

And kids, word has it that early signs are very good for Obama supporters!

When I voted, there was some random signature where I was supposed to sign. Nice!

i'm a huge fan too! i love voting. well, i've pretty much only been a part of 1 presidential election -- this one. and the smaller local elections. haha. i am only 20. but, i'm excited for a lifelong voting experience. =) and i defnitely voted today. and i'm so happy it's over! even though my vote really didn't count this time seeing as how obama won way before our polling booths were even closed in hawaii. =/ i want to volunteer at the polls too!

Haha elections are always fun, my local station is in a church, which I always find ironic for some reason.
