Why Wallets Hate Me

Because one week after I moved to New York City, I was in Century 21 trying on shoes and my wallet was stolen from my backpack. Yes, I know, I was a non-student carrying a backpack, oh the shame.

Since then I don't trust wallets. To me they scream "here's my money and credit cards in this convenient little package just waiting to be stolen, so you can kiss those Comme des Garcons shoes good bye forever." But lately I'm feeling a little all over the place, and have no idea where my debit card is, so obviously going through life wallet-free is no kind of a wallet solution.

Wallet in office next to Altoids.

I like the size of this H&M wallet ($12.90), grabbed during yesterday's 10 minute shopping fit. Perhaps it was the time pressure that finally got me to cave, or the fact that the retro coloring reminds me of the wallet my mom carried when I was a kid. Amazing how much feeling can be tied up in one little accessory.

I have dreams about my purse getting stolen ALL THE TIME and my main fear is my wallet. Whole life in tiny package! I'm right there witcha.

But the H&M miniwallet you nabbed is totally adorable. And small enough that it might successfully hide from the pickpockets.

I love wallets! I especially love the one that I have right now. It's a zebra print Betsey Johnson thing and it's awesome. The only downfall is the fact that I can't get my freaking fingers into the coin pocket when I try to get change. It is sooooo small and it doesn't even stretch at all and so I'm usually left mumbling to the cashier that I'm sorry because it takes me like 5 minutes to get one penny out of the damn thing. Haha.

I thought you were going to write about how you keep your credit cards in an empty Altoids container. Geez....I think I need to get some sleep.

Oh no :( I'm always scared of pickpockets on the tube, all those people crammed into the carriages and it's impossible to keep an eye on your things. Love the new wallet :)

I have a wallet with a chain that you can attach to the inside of your purse. It makes me feel a bit more secure. I wish they'd make one that would taze anyone who tried to steal it. I'd buy that for sure.
