34th Street: Free Ice Cream & Sales Galore

First, because it's already begun and I could really use some ice cream right now:

My lame photoshopped email notice.
Go to Haagen-Dazs at 1286 Broadway south of 34th and get a free scoop of any Bee-built ice-cream flavor. Also, go Haagen-Dazs' Help the Honey Bees site and help save a bee. I visit just to "explore the fields," which is a really cute and slightly addictive function.

After enjoying your bee-built ice cream, you can check out Banana Republic on 34th Street because they've got some great promotions now and upcoming:

  • 25% off $100 purchase, now through 5/17;
  • 9 Free music downloads from never-before heard tracks from Sarah Bareilles, Dashboard Confessional, Liz Phair, Ok Go, David Sanchez, AYO, Tommy Torres Esperanza Spalding and David Garret with any purchase, now through 5/31;
  • And next week, the White Hot Sale, involving 30% off regularly priced merchandise, from 5/21-5/25. I know you Banana lovers are way into that!
"White hot" and "Liz Phair" reminds me of dialing my ex really late at night and playing Liz Phair really, REALLY loud on his answering machine. Ah, youth! But go to Banana and support Liz, kids, because she's been there for the girls in the past. Nothing drives a guy crazier than having a, ahem, "pissed" off ex force him to listen to Liz Phair.

And speaking of guys, the Joseph Abboud sale at Soiffer-Haskin is now offering a free dress shirt and tie with purchase of any sport coat, while supplies last. Be sure to check out the link for details. If you're not looking for your man, save Soiffer for the Cole Haan sale on the 17th - 21st.

Last is the swim sale at Old Navy. Adult swimwear starts at $12.50 and kids at $8. I have to say, Old Navy swimwear is great for the price. I have tried it on and not been disappointed with the fit.

Lela Rose for Payless, IRL

KT bought these Lela Rose flats during the last BOGO session at Payless. I think they are adorable:

Chic! Of course she has a perfect tan so they look fabulous.

KT said they are comfortable but chafe a little at the heel. I find most of my new Payless shoes need some breaking in, and the Lela Roses are generally the most comfortable flats. KT also said she's always looking for a wide, comfortable toe in her flats, and these fit the bill. Her other BOGO selection:

American Eagle flats, all cuteness. They are, as KT said, a great running-around summer shoe ($17.99).

And don't miss Lindsey's favorite flat (she's wearing them here), also American Eagle, which she has worn almost daily for work since BOGO'ing them a few weeks ago. She's even wearing them right now, with a broken toe! $19.99 on sale.

Why You'll Be Seeing More of Me Less Often

God bless H&M's new spring maternity. I may end up wearing these denim-look leggings ($24.90) pretty much every day. Not bad comfort-wise, and has the big belly panel which doesn't get itchy till 3pm-ish. Yes, once I lived in horror of t
he big belly panel, but it has quickly become my best friend. The black top, also, is an important basic ($12.90). I will not be "rocking" any cropped maternity tops, I want all of mine to be Major Coverage.

My problem is, how much maternity do you all want to see? Just enough to know where to go when your girlfriend or sister is all knockered up, right? I will still post myself occasionally as ever since I woke up to find that nothing in my closet fits, except for my husband's jeans and my black Daffy's miracle jeans (which are now known as the real-life "sisterhood of the traveling pants"), I'm a little obsessed with maternity clothes. Inexpensive maternity clothes. And strollers. Ack! Now instead of looking at other girls' cute shoes, I'm checking out their strollers.

Me, when I caught myself mid-stroller envy, & after I looked in the mirror and saw something huge looking back.
So I'll be taking full advantage of volunteer co-worker models. Thanks, guys! And if any of you want to go shopping on 34th Street, or want to post a photo of something you bought on 34th Street, contact me at fashionherald@gmail.com. I can't promise much in return yet, but will happily supply coffee and lots of peanut butter sandwich cookies from 'wichcraft.

Shopping w/ Lindsey

First stop, Forever 21:

This plaid top is so much cuter in person. But it's flimsy so she needs a halter bra. Every girl needs a halter bra.
And ombre maxi! Not the right color for her, but I want her to buy a maxi dress this summer as she's tall. So, are we still liking ombre this summer?

Weird, this flowery top was not as cute in person but looks great in the photo. Lindsey said she felt like a big wedding cake. I made her buy this baseball T cause every girl also needs a casual but sexy baseball T.

Then a quick run to H&M to look for a halter bra (no luck), and where I forced her to buy this:

Perfect glam beach hat w/major sun protection. Picture this with black bikini.

Xmastime & Posh: Reunited in Underwear?

Sadly, only if he runs to Macy's Herald Square today and buys $85 worth of Emporio Armani women's underwear. Which I would totally pay for if we still had a budget, because the comic opportunities abound with the whole women's underwear buying alone, not to mention the whole reunited with Posh photo-op thing. Damn the recession. In case you forgot how Xmastime was practically breathing down her neck at a fashion week from yore, check out our video clip, "Desperado," here. Just watch the first two minutes, it's all Posh and Xmastime.

Post at last night's Met gala looking "fierce."

You, too, can meet Posh and get a photo with her during a private meet and greet on the 6th floor of Macy's Herald Square at noon tomorrow. But you've got to be one of the first 150 to buy $85+ of the Emporio underwear before the event. Or you can just go to the unveiling of her worldwide exclusive on the main floor at 11am. I'm assuming this involves a huge photo of Posh in her skivvies, not unlike her husband's?*

Go here and scroll down for all the details.

*Update: Look, I was right!

Update Update:
Posh pics from the event this morning. How adorable is she today? I love a "soft" Posh. Xmastime missed the whole thing because of "work." Thanks to the Gossip Girls site for the pictures and their great coverage of the event

Adorable in "messy" hair. Are those David's abs?

Nope, all Posh! She and her husband do some hot ads.

Don't Forget

Impending Mother's Day this Sunday, be prepared!

And have you ever noticed how impossible it is to find a card/stationery store in Midtown Manhattan when you need one? I know one can drop by a drugstore and probably find some kind of card, but when one is in need for a more meaningful, Hallmark moment (you screwed up, you fell in love, you fell in love and screwed up, or Mother's Day):

The new Hallmark store in Manhattan Mall, 2nd floor. Brand spanking new, and perfectly fulfills your Mother's Day card needs.

Friends & Family Friday

I would be remiss in not alerting you to the plethora of Friends & Family deals occurring now or soon on 34th Street. Go here to get Friends & Family flyers for: Macy's, Foot Locker, Footaction, and Ann Taylor Loft. Also, at Gap, now through May 6th, if you buy pants, shorts or skirts you can get a top for 50% off.

Let's end this week with some adorable, colorful, irresistible, and not $$ bikinis lolling around right now at Forever 21 on 34th Street. They're hanging out on the second floor, right by the inevitably really long line at the dressing rooms. I cannot tell a lie, that is one busy store, so go early or when it's raining cats and dogs for no lines.

Mix and match (each under $20), good for those of us who will always need, ahem, larger bottoms.

Love this print.

Obviously not bikinis, but rather cute skirts I snapped in F21 last week. Part of the Twelve by Twelve label.

Also, BIG news for plus-size gals. I saw on their website that Forever 21 has added a plus-size label, Faith 21, to their collections. Not on 34th Street yet, but hopefully soon. Here are the stores carrying the line.
