I've said it before but I'll say it again because I'm talking swimwear: LOVE the #aeriereal no retouching standard American Eagle Outfitters' Aerie brand has adopted. No photoshop all the time. Which I really love when I'm buying bathing suits as I can judge the rear view with real rear ends, and figure out what kind of cut will fit me best. Bikini bottoms have always been a challenge for me, so hallelujah. I'm shopping only Aerie for swimsuits this year.

During these seasonal transition times in the retail world, you can often find the cutest and most practical pieces of the year, like these AEO sweatshirts. 

Very Flashdance era, I love an open-neck shirt. These are cozy, but the modern floral print upgrades the sweatshirt-ness. I'll take two, please.

I'm sad to say the American Eagle Outfitters pop-up at 34th Street and Seventh Avenue is now closed.

We were lucky to have this Seventh Avenue AEO outpost when renovations closed the 40 West 34th Street AEO store last year, and will miss its fabulous denim and button-down presence on the West End. No news on who will be replacing AEO at this location (or if they'll be returning?), but we will update here once we get the official word.

Reminder: before the AEO pop-up, this was Footaction's location. Footaction has since moved around the corner to 225 West 34th Street.

American Eagle Outfitters: Yule Really Love This

AEO's holiday promotion, Yule Love This, is my theme song this month. Why am I so high on AEO these days? Because I've been wearing their skinny black jeans all week. THEY ARE AMAZING, and both pairs were under $25 with their 40% off everything sale. I have a long inseam, so I ordered the x-long (only available online) and they are perfection. I'm so hooked, I'll probably never go anywhere else for affordable, great fitting, and really comfortable denim. 

Also, I tested people in the office today, and no one knew I was wearing the same two pairs of black jeans all week. That's the power of the color black, ladies.

All you can glean from these office bathroom selfies is that I love my beanies, I go very casual on snow days, and these jeans are long. See the slightly baggy room I've got on the left? JOY. I would prefer my hems to be touching dirty subway floors than to be too short.

Also, that Chambray Western Shirt on the right is AEO, and is a men's medium tall. I ordered it in men's and tall because I want to be OK with throwing it in the dryer, and I wanted it to be long so I could wear it with leggings on weekends. Love the length. I also got an Epic Flannel Shirt and its comfort is what? Yes, epic. My husband was so impressed I promptly ordered him two.

34th Street Updates: The American Eagle Outfitters Pop-Up

The newly renovated American Eagle Outfitters on 34th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues is open and fabulous, but today we are here to tell you the AEO pop-up on 34th and Seventh is still open for business.

There's always something in front of this store when I want to shoot it! #BusyIntersection

The pop-up helped fill in the AEO blanks while the store down the block was closed for a face lift, and it looks like it's sticking around. We will update soon on selection inside, but it's an awfully convenient location for those of us who regularly stalk the 34th and Seventh corridor and need a new button-down.

Opening Soon on 34th Street

1. American Eagle Outfitter's

The store at 40 West 34th Street has been closed for renovations, but will re-open any day now. Possibly, it is opening now as I type. The store has a gorgeous new shiny look with big video screen included (on the second floor, below, facing the street). Also, the pop-up at Seventh and 34th Street down the block is still open for business, filling the 34th Street AEO gap during renovations. Updated to add: store has re-opened!

2. Hour Passion
This Swatch boutique will be opening soon at the old Billabong space in 112 West 34th Street. Look for a wide variety of brands including not just Swatch but also luxury brands like Longines and Balmain.

3. Kids Foot Locker
Things are moving along fast at the old Brookstone space which will become home to a dedicated Kids Foot Locker store (below, to the right of Skechers). I get all my girl's kicks at Foot Locker just down the block, so I'm highly anticipating a whole storefront dedicated to the kids (no news on projected opening date).

4. Crocs
In what once housed Tad's Steaks will this winter become home to a big Crocs experience. I admit it, as a mom, I'm ecstatic. It doesn't matter if you scorned Crocs as a singleton, once you have kids you bow to the ease of the shoe made of a proprietary material that doesn't smell, is easy to clean, and can go from sidewalk to sprinklers, to pool, or beach and back.

5. Joe Fresh
This was originally a pop-up on 34th Street, then became permanent, and then closed last spring for renovations. Can't wait to see its fabulous new look on 34th Street (should  reopen very soon, again, might be opening right now...)

Renovations & Pop-Up for American Eagle Outfitters

Change is underfoot at American Eagle Outfitters on 34th Street. The store at 40 West 34th between Fifth and Sixth Avenues is now closed for renovations. Midtown shoppers can still shop AEO on 34th Street, they just need to travel one long city block west to One Penn Plaza at the SW corner of 34th and Seventh Avenue. Here there will find a "pop-up" AEO that opened just yesterday.

Luckily, this is still in close proximity to an H&M (SE corner of 34th and 7th), Macy's is catty-corner, and right across the street is a Joe Fresh....shoppers should be happy with this temporary American Eagle Outfitters. And the Footaction that used to be in this location? Rumor has it they will be opening a new location nearby soon.

AEO staff said renovations on the 40 West store should be completed by August. In the meantime, find your skinny fit men's shirts down the block toward the west end of 34th Street.

There are shorts with flower patterns, white washed pairs and ones with fun glitter pockets. They're really short shorts though, so if that's not a style you're into they've got a deal on tank-tops (some with lace on the back) as well as dresses.
