Spring '12 Conscious Collection

I'm feeling very conscious that you better get to H&M fast for the super dramatic fabulous pieces in the brand new Conscious Collection.

Please go here for all the great and good things that H&M is doing with their Conscious Collection. Here is where I can tell you that in the dressing room yesterday there was a man who walked out with two of the tiered ruffled gowns (left) in his arms. These items are so good men are snatching them up. Run.

Fashion Star Episode 5: Sold Out in Stores

I made the mistake of waiting a day to try on Nikki and Sarah's H&M Fashion Star buys, and that was a day too late. Sold out at H&M Herald Square! There might have been something left at H&M Penn Station, but my feet were too hurting to walk that big block between Broadway and Seventh Avenue. It's been a long week.

There are Fashion Star pieces left at Macy's Herald Square, though, so I tried on Ronnie's lovely sheath dress (above, black and print almost sold out online) and Ross' vest (pink pin-striped now sold out online). America and I obviously have very different tastes. The navy vest was OK, but totally didn't like the pink pin-stripe. It was way too "ice-cream shoppe" and makes me want to send Ross about five years of Vogue back copies, and not from the 1950's. He's often on the right track with an idea but it rarely translates as modern. The sole exception is his adorable satin shorts from episode three.

I'm going to sound egotistical here and say I do kind of make the pink vest up there look cute. And obviously the rest of American is into pink pinstripes. The fit of this vest was surprisingly tight across the back. The 8 didn't fit me, and Macy's 8s always fit me. But I have a very broad back and this is a typical problem for me. If you are similarly built for football, go up a size.

Ronnie's sheath is a perfect sheath with a nice surprise in the back. I can't say much else, as it's not a ground-breaking dress, but is a perfectly cut LBD, print or pink addition to your dress wardrobe.

Ladies, It's NFL Pop-Up Shopping Time

Tomorrow, April 12th, the NFL is hosting a ladies shopping night at the pop-up at 41st and Sixth Avenue across from Bryant Park. I covered the NFL Shop at Draft pop-up opening for our sister company's blog here.

You're not a Giants fan if you don't have a Giants tote.

This week it's all about the NFL Ladies Boutique, and the pop-up is celebrating with manicures*, massages*, personal styling sessions, and more from 5:00pm-7:00pm tomorrow evening. Hosted by Gwen Reese, wife of New York Giants General Manager Jerry Reese, this event will feature a Cuce Shoes trunk show with their limited-edition apparel produced exclusively for the NFL Shop at Draft. Also, Anastasio Moda's fabulous bags (see above) will be 25% off for the day.

Bonus for all you NFL fans? NFL players will be in attendance. Woot! See you there tomorrow, I'll be the one shopping for these Cuce boots:

What? You think I won't wear NY Jets boots? Obviously you don't know me!

*complimentary with a $50 purchase of any item

It's Survey Time! Win Stuff!

Herald Square photo by Sarah Xu.

Did you know that the company I work for manages Herald & Greeley Square Parks? That's Herald Square above during spring planting. We do a lot here at the 34th Street Partnership, and we like to get feedback so we ask our visitors, shoppers, residents, etc, to fill out a yearly survey. Give me an A+ and you win something! No, not really, but you can rate me "Very Satisfied" on page nine and make me happy. Then, upon completion of the survey, you can enter to win one of the stupendous prizes below. Yes, I rate free dinner for two "awesome" and a $100 gift certificate from B&H Photo & Video "stupendous."

This survey goes fast and will take you way less than five minutes to complete. Dinner and drinks for two at Legend's or Jack Demsey's? That could last you hours!

Good luck, and happy surveying!

Store News: Zara Closed for Renovations

There was a bit of panic on 34th Street this morning:

A Zara 34th Street blackout! I calmed myself with deep, cleansing breaths, then witnessed a girl pounding on the door. I felt her pain, and was ready to join in. But soon, shoppers, soon Zara will reopen. Note the sign: "Opening Soon."

Trending at H&M

I was running out the door at H&M Herald Square last week after trying on the Fashion Star pieces, when this caught my eye:

Soon I was grabbing jackets, pants, and plastic raincoats, and I knew I was in the H&M trend section. Its location changes periodically, but currently it's on the first floor left-hand side as you enter the store at Herald Square. I walked out with this...
These drawstring, gathered-waist pants are perfect, have leather details on pockets. Imagine them with heels.

...went back the next day for this...
This is not in trend section, but it's gold, pleated, and $14.95. This is why there's no room in my closet.

...and had to get to a meeting or I would have gone back for this...
Plastic see-through GREY coat. There were only 3 on floor last Thursday, 4, 6 & 8.

Also tucked away in trend? A very small but very fabulous selection of Marni.
