Yigal Azrouel in the Tents

No ticket to Yigal Azrouel, but managed to get into standing room. And then claimed an empty seat. But I forgot that I get better pictures/video when standing. Don't be lazy, girl!

I preferred his last fall collection, but that was a show of many exits, girls and boys, and really luxurious fabrics. Sign of the times. Still, his aesthetic stays true: relaxed, hip, and elegant cuts equal effortless cool. This show really spoke to his technical ability, and showed off his mastery of folds and pleats.

Let me get to it. LOVED:

  • his "chewing gum leather stovepipe pants" (we should all be sent a pair to cure recession blues).
  • the cut of his trousers. Pleated and ever-so-slightly high-waisted. Think modern Daisy Buchanan.
  • his strong shoulders. I cannot describe how Joan Crawford-in-spirit they were without looking like clothes hangars.
  • the pinstudded leather. I thought I was over studs, and then Yigal does this. Small studs all over jackets, bags and belts.
  • his most perfect ivory blouse named "BONE washed silk wool amorphic blouse." Think shapely shapelessness.
  • the stunning closer I tweeted* (twittered?) after the show: "JET blackened heishi bead jacket". See picture above, whole ensemble speaks for itself.
Colors were muted, and grey and black dominated. A few pics:

Cutest haircut yet.

Great pants. Scarf and sweater are classic Yigal Azrouel.

*I'm on Twitter now and getting a little addicted.

Love most of his stuff-- that look with the beaded jacket is smokin'. I could make lots of ebony jewelry to go with that look...

I feel somewhat left out with the whole pajama-party thing-- though I expect TSD (The Spawkwing Diamond) would probably have a problem with my attending...

Oh Yigal. Le sigh. =) I love his stuff. I can't wait to see more when it hits style.com. =) What I want to see is a picture of him closing his shoe. He is so handsome.

Fantastic colours. I am so anti-Spring right now and these rich colours are the perfect antidote to flower prints.

Ack, jealous much that you get to witness the actual movement of his clothes.
