Fabulous cutaway leather coat, check, Gucci rain boots, check, chatting up/charming security, check. See why I invited her?!
Last Friday night my girl from DC arrived into town to give me a hand with shows for the weekend. I took her to the ARISE: African Promise Collective show, thinking it would be kind of a throw-away show but a good way to show her the ropes. Wrong, we were both very impressed with the showings from the 4 designers, 2 women and 2 men.
Jewel by Lisa and her gorgeous use of traditional African textiles.
Tiffany Amber and her collection inspired by Mahogany: wonderful color.
Eric Raisina and a giggling Chanel Iman:
David Thale and the best iterations of Scarlett O'Hara's curtain gown EVER. And Tyson Beckford walking the runway.
Proof positive that African designers should be closely watched in the future. For good pics, check out this official Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week video below, or visit this FashionJunkii post that has the professional shots:

It's your back-up! And, ahem, she actually wants to go to shows! Of course, I miss the whole anti-fashion angle. Sigh. Word to barbie.
