All About Plaid

Tricia Lewis, our Fashion Herald blogger, is on maternity leave. Following is a post from her co-worker Katie, who is graciously filling in as guest blogger.

It's not just for the boys anymore. Gap has a front seat on the colorful, girly, ruffle-y plaid train this season. The 34th Street store has a great selection of colors and patterns, like these traditional button ups with a twist, $49.50 each.

Large print with ruffled front, spotted in blue, red, purple, and black & white.

Smaller print with a thinner ruffle down the front and ruffled sleeve detail.

No ruffles on this one, but a little stretch in the fabric made it the comfiest shirt I tried on. Look for other colors throughout the store for more than the traditional red and blue prints.

Shirts aside, this wool jacket in a muted plaid is on sale right now for $69.99.

And I loved this mystery vest, nicknamed because there were only two of them, slightly hidden on a rack between big, fuzzy cardigans, and neither had prices. When I searched on Gap.com, they were nowhere to be found.

Not exactly plaid, but close enough, it drapes nicely in the front and sits flat in the back. Look for the two remaining vests on the right hand side of the lower level, when you get off the escalator. They may even be on sale...it's a mystery!

I can't STAND blue/black buffalo plaid because it reminds me of a shirt I wore ALL THE TIME in 1983.

Good find, Katie, with the mystery vest! And I think you need to get the plaid jacket, very adorable outdoor chic.
And WendyB, yes, we are going to live through the grunge years again. I don't get it, seems just like yesterday :)

I did really like the jacket and the vest, but they weren't on my list of necessities. The third shirt down, though, I went back and bought yesterday with a 40% off card I got when I bought a bunch of Gap tights during Friends and Family a few weeks ago. The retailers are totally getting me with all these special deals this season!

Love the muted one & the last. The last one is definitely me! =] I also like the ruffled front one. A feminine touch on plaid. MAJOR!
