Chaos is Back

Although this post is about Bergdorf Goodman, which is unfortunately on 5th Avenue and not 34th Street, it'd just be wrong to not share this fragrance news for fellow adorers: Chaos is back. The following is from Wikipedia, but I first read about it Page 6 magazine:

In August of 2008, Donna Karan relaunched her discontinued fragrance line from the 1990s. These include DK Fuel for Men, Signature, Chaos, and Black Cashmere. They are available exclusively in the United States at Bergdorf Goodman New York and in England at Harrods Knightsbridge.
Why the excitement? I can talk about the spices, woodsy notes and ambery. And I can tell you it became my signature fragrance, no one else wore it and men always complimented me on it. But the real reason why I've been desperate for Chaos years after it was discontinued? What my husband said when I discovered a stray sample and wore it to dinner one night: "That smell reminds me of when we first met."

Holy shit. My man should be a PR king. Of course, I've been scouring the internet ever since to get the fragrance that reminds him of the early days when I was sweet, adoring and aiming to please. But those kind of memories cost a lot on eBay.

Lucky for me, the new smells exactly like the old. My only disappointment? The new bottle. I hate it. The old bottle was a dead ringer for the Superman crystals, yes?

Superman crystals, really, from the superman museum in Illinois!
Old Chaos bottle, or Superman Krypton crystal? Hmmm.

The new bottle, yuk. But this stuff could come in an Old Milwaukee beer can and I'd still spray it all over.

Old Milwaukee! My dad used to drink that stuff. Awful. I'm sure this fragrance smells a lot better than that fourth-rate beer does.

How cool that it's been re-launched.

Thanks for the comment. I only got those boots by luck, I was bored on my lunch break and happened to walk into a payless, lo and behold, the boots were on Clearance ($13!)

This is a great post. You are so lucky. I loved Grass perfume from The Gap, but they quit making it. Bastards!

ooooh! yay for you! =) i am an absolute perfume fiend thnx to my mother and grandmother. i have obviously never smelled chaos seeing as how i was too young to even think about perfume when it was discontinued but i wish i did! you're making it sound so brilliant -- which i am sure it is! ugh. i wish the perfume fairys could procure a sample for me seeing as how i am nowhere near new york or london. le sigh. =/

What great news!! Now I need someone to re-launch Escada Couture.

Why must they torture us by discontinuing our fragrances?

Seeker - Thanks, you leave the most thoughtful comments!
Farren - next time I'm in Bergdorf's, i'll ask for a sample! although none of my girlfriends liked it!
Sister- canceling fragrances should be illegal.
Angel - i'm a lucky girl!
Wendy - i think Donna's late husband, the sculptor, designed that bottle. I loved it, and the little version was so sweet.

Great post -- I wish my hubby made similarly enduring comments about my perfume.
