Here is the sole pair of Christian Siriano boots ($49.99) that I could find in my size (now a 10, previously 9) on 34th Street. The heel shape is consistent throughout his Payless line, and I wish I could show you how pretty the other shoes are on, but there were no 10's. The 9's were not going on my feet. I think the larger sizes were being unpacked, so I'll try them on my next visit. I did not spot the pretty green booties.
I love the heel, love the toe, love the lining, love the hardware, and it was fine for walking. Speaking of comfort, I did find a Siriano flat in a 10 that was awfully stiff and would need some breaking in, but this is Payless and that is typical of their flats. One question: do I care about the gaps on the ankle? I used to hate this, and wanted my booties to fit tight around the ankle. Nowadays, however, this may pass as quirky and hip. I can't decide. But you should visit Payless on 34th Street and see for yourself. There are lots of other Siriano boot and shoe styles, none of which are online yet. And supposedly not in select stores till September 8th.

I've heard that the preview photos don't reflect the styles that are actually being sold ... and I'm SO SAD! I wanted some spiky dinosaur shoes ...
Sal - Problem with these designer collabs is we'll see some crazy shoes on the runway and then they are watered down in store. Everyone was disappointed about the dinosaur shoes, and I don't think they are getting made. Too bad! But the collection is definitely still worth checking out, cute shoes.
They look like I nice boot, but personally I don't like the open around the ankle look.
However, they are desgined to be that open, as opposed to just looking as if your ankles are to skinny, so I guess that's ok. (And I'm not implying that your ankles are too skinny ^_^)
Thanks, Icy, good ankle boot info. And no worries, I currently don't really have visible ankles!
Also, I agree, I don't think these were trying at all to hug the leg!
This is a cankle disguising boot.
Does it fit snugly around the foot? I can't help but see it as my eight year old son clomping around in my ankle boots....but the toe is attractive.
ahh i want them!
These are designed to be more open around the ankle and give a glimpse of the contrasting fabric inside. However, they should be curve in a bit more in front. You can see in the second picture the slight indentation in the back but none in the front, which would have helped a bit. Also the bare leg is probably throwing you off, with the black and teal lining wearing a black tight or legging will pull the eye in more.
Good luck, I'd keep them, despite finding Christian Siriano and his Kate Gosselin hairdo annoying!
You know, an ankle gap always really bugs me :-O
Maria - yes, the fit around the foot is good! Somehow yes, these are a perfect 8yr old clomping boot.
Lilee - if you're not in nyc (they'll be on the 5th Ave store by NYPL & 34th & broad, of course!) keep an eye online in early September.
39th - Ahhh, many many thanks for the excellent design eye. There were angles of these I liked, and some not so much. But it's got a lot of style for a $49.99 boot.
Wendy - ja, to us gaps always meant a cheap boot and bad fit.
Hi there-since I was 13 (early 80s) when I had ankle boots then which had a gap (but weren't cheap, haha) I've always wanted boots that fit. But I agree that with some pairs, they are actually designed to look good this way. This pair is rather nice!
I just called a store in San Mateo (CA) and their holding the gold n' green booties for me in a 10-I'm getting them this wknd...hopefully unlike thier flats, the 10'll fit...I'll update yall on them after I pick them up, can't wait! This shoe is a work of art :)
Sharon - I think they are rather nice too, my instinct is to buy!
Anon - thanks for the info, and would love an update. I find the boots pretty true to size, but I'm curious to hear how's the fit, etc.
Jumped the gun and went to check out the green n' gold size 10 booties this morning. They are satin! They don't look satin in Elle and the dark green ones above look leatherish. I thought they'd be cheap or fake leather but their satin as in shiny and satin :( Since they rub against my ankles and it hurts and leaves marks I bought them anyway to see if they'd look cute w/my skinny jeans but they don't b/c the jeans gather where the bootie starts and it's just too much going on. The heel and hardware are SO pretty but the satin and ankle pain is a blower. I'm returning them but good luck to everyone else whoes cool w/satin ankle booties :)
oh but the fit was perfect, they're actually comfortable minus the ankle rubbing.
Interesting! How about adding some clear padding/gels around the opening of the bootie ;) I bet anyone could make it look unnoticeable. I might/might not buy them, however, I have to try them on. In this city my word of mouth is important, so let's see what my review might be. I'm excited. Thanks for the warnings ladies!
How does everybody manage the pain at the ankle when the bootie hits the bone? Or is it just me????? I bought a pair of CK Beverly booties ($150) and couldn't have them on for 5 minutes that already marked my ankle. It was such a torture that I had to take them off and posted them on ebay right away (if anybody is interested). It is a boomber, because I really loved them, but it seems I am not menat to wear them!
