Mercedes Benz Fashion Week: Day One

Pictures from Rosa Cha Spring 2010 Show

8:00am:
Cat sick, uses litter box every 5 minutes, apartment covered in litter dust. I call out-of-town husband and ask can I just give cat some old antibiotics? Husband horrified, yells at me to call vet. I begin to question mothering instincts, hope they kick in sometime in the next four weeks. Fashion what?

11:00am: At vet, wishing I'd bought a scone and paper, wondering if I'll make any shows today. Think about asking if I can leave cat at desk while I pop out for some food. Scared everyone will think I'm bad cat mom.

Noon: Vet takes cat to back room to poke and prod, I run across the street to bagel store and am greeted with smiles and "That's a huge belly!" I think I like Queens.

1:00pm: Have sad cat, big vet bill, and a parking ticket.

2:30pm:
Realize I've got to get off computer and clean some litter dust or be shamed by weekend guest's appearance.

4:30pm: Walking over Pulaski Bridge, huge truck speeds by, get huge mouthful of dirt. Why did I do my makeup?

5:10pm: Make it to tents for Rosa Cha show, proceed to check-in, and get standing room ticket. Shamelessly use unborn child to cut standing room line. Sit in back row to atone. Magic words? "I'm 36 weeks pregnant." Rosa Cha PR girl: A+++

And the show? Loved it. Loved it even more than last season. Think grey swimsuits with back panels of light yellow and orange, cream bathing suits with tiny black crystals, a very successful black & white striped series of suits, and perfect coverups. I want the long, black & white striped pants that tie on top of the foot. And tomorrow I want a new camera, one that focuses on the clothes instead of everything else. But note the big straw clutch, bursts of color in the headwraps and bangles, and black & white strappy shoes.

Check out the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week YouTube Channel for a video from the show. They've already posted Daviddelfin, Duckie Brown, and BCBG from earlier today.

Great daily diary - very entertaining and good use of magic words!

Pennerad - No walking in, I apply for a press pass every season, and then send ticket requests to PR reps. Standing room is fine by me too, but right now I'm far along in pregnancy, so waiting in lines is too exhausting!
Shoe York City - Those Payless collabs are kind of irresistible. I've got to see if Pat Field's line is in.
Make Do - I figure I've got this one shot to use the magic words!
SKL - he's so much better, he's his big goofy self again.

The kitty story made me choke on my soda! Than I had to give my old cat a hug an assure him I would never try poison him, well, probably not.

I think I'm going to launch my own line of fake pregnant belly's to get seats at the shows, what a scam! Hmm did you plan the timing this way on purpose ;-)

39th - I know, I look at my big sweet guy now and think "evil, evil pregnant woman!" And what to name the fake bellies?? Hmmm, I can see the commercial now!

Hilarious. What was the diagnosis for the cat?

Tricia said...

No blockage, but those crystal things in urinary tract male cats get that can become dangerous fast. I'm glad I usually find my husband's judgment superior to mine!

Was the cat peeing a lot of was it the other stuff? Mine is going #2 (and not the normal #2) several times a day but the vet can't figure out what's wrong with him... no blood or anything like that, but it's still not normal.

sorry, i meant, "was the cat peeing a lot OR was it the other stuff?"

Meredith - #! Sounds like your guy may have a bug too, has yr. vet put him on antibiotics? And has kitty been stressed lately? i think my big guy misses my husband, who left for grad school. Stress makes them vulnerable to illness, just like us, I guess!
