Before I started writing my thoughts on the Ruffian show, I read my past reviews because I didn't want to gush on and on in a similar fashion. Is there a Ruffian show I don't like? So far, No.
Luckily each season, in addition to the usual beautiful clothing, Ruffian gives me a new angle to rave about. This time it's THE CHUCKS. I doubt there are many designers out there that could pair up Chucks with delicate pastels prints the way Ruffian does.
I was told years ago to stop cursing on Fashion Herald because we're a work blog, but here it's necessary: Ruffian Spring '13 is a "F*ck Ladylike" collection in a very tongue-in-cheek way. Totally beautiful ladylike clothing with a lot of opportunity to ironic-up the lady. I don't even really know what I'm saying here, except this collection was inspired by their Williamsburg, Brooklyn 'hood, and if anyone can make a classic refined style look ironic it's Williamsburg hipsters. Don't forget, they are the ones who made preppy hip.
Sometimes, like in Williamsburg, it is all in the hair and the shoes. But with Ruffian, you also get a stunning collection.
I'm sorry, but if she isn't thinking "F*ck the Upper East Side" here I'll eat my Chucks laces. |
