Mikimoto Girl

I'm not much of a pearl girl, although I did once receive a necklace and earring set as a gift and thoroughly enjoy them. I like to mix them up a little, old-school Madonna style.

But when it comes to a classic like Mikimoto, I defer to Savvy Girl over at Savvy Mode as she's been dreaming of the Pearls in Motion set for years, and first wrote about them here. She also managed to convince me that pearls can be trendy. Well, Savvy Girl, if you're in NYC this coming week, you must visit this sale at Soiffer Haskin:

Click and make it big.
Call it "an unprecedented employee sale" and I'm intrigued. What do you think, would you visit the Mikimoto sale and invest in an heirloom piece?

Well, *I* wouldn't do Mikimoto. I can get my own pearls! :-) But I must comment on old-school Madonna. I just saw Desperately Seeking Susan on TV for the first time in years and that movie really held up well. Still good!

Love that old pic of Madonna! I miss that Madonna.....before the British accent and the uber-sculpted, yoga body...

Wendy - I saw that on TV the other night too and it does hold up really well. And it still gives me major Aidan Quinn heart palpitations.
Lipstick - That's my favorite madonna too!

Aww! I wish I could buy something for the both of you and send it along! but I think my credit card can't take the mikimoto price, and we'd want them well-insured...:)

I would love pearls if only someone would give me some.

Great article. We just covered Mikimoto Beverly Hills at a Malibu event. You can read about it here: http://hwdesigninc.wordpress.com/2009/06/22/mikimoto-pearls-and-designer-kevan-hall-shine-at-malibu-lumber-yard-pop-up-event/
