My Better Half

Today I give a love post to my man, who sat (almost) quietly through fluctuating hormone levels on my birthday. Let's just say at the new and fabulous age of 42, impending motherhood is freaking me out a little. You'd think by now I'd have reconciled myself to not being a carefree gal about 34th Street anymore, but according to last June 6th, nope, that is not the case.

At least I had a new dress on.

Me lurking in a corner: H&M Mama dress ($24.90), Bitten jacket, Gap shoes, wooden rooster from the streets of DC. And the dress, in store, where you can see the cute shoulder ties.

Normally I would have spent my birthday the usual way: with the love of my life, talking, eating, and drinking until I get in the mood to walk down the street yelling: "I'm 42 b*$#*es!" I highly recommend it, especially as you near your 40's.

But when pregnant, one is more restricted on their birthday. So here's to the guy who finds it amusing both when his birthday girl is yelling out the window of the cab, or is crying into her non-alcoholic beverage. You were well worth the wait, baby.

All of my boys, hanging out in the opposite corner singing "It's her birthday, she can cry if she wants to."

To celebrate my man's endearing patience, Old Navy is having a "Better Half Event." Customers can take 50% off everything in the men's department. OK, it's not really for my better half specifically, but after last Saturday he deserves it.

I'd get him this because it matches his eyes and he needs gym gear. As you can see from the photo on the left, he also needs shoes. We're taking him to Foot Locker later this week.

Happy, happy birthday! You look lovely and bravo for embracing your age. After 30 I spend most birthdays crying about the number of candles on my cake and I can't even blame hormones. Love the pics, your hubby and kitties are adorable!

Happy birthday beautiful momma!!!

I totally agree with eeps.--you don't look a day over 26. And we've all seen you in that awful lighting they have in fitting rooms too.

Xmas - Ha! What a great birthday that was! Well, at least I was having a good time.
Sharon - Thanks so much!
Lipstick - This is why I don't do close-ups...and thanks for the lovely comment!
Natanya - No worries, you should have seen the tears at 38! And then you get to an age where loudly embracing is really the best medicine.
eeps - AWWW, miss you! although I can still contact you online. Eeps in Phoneix, damn!
Wendy - No problem, anytime!
La Belette - I am a Gemini, so we do love a little *cough* drama on our birthdays!
Sal - See above. I don't mind a few tears on my birthday, and it does amuse my husband!

I obviously haven't visited you in quite a while (so sorry!) because I had no idea you were expecting. Congrats!! And you're in your 40s?! No way! Wow, you look seriously amazing!
I love that dress on you and it looks so great with the jacket and shoes.

Gosh Miss Fashion, we're sorry to hear the hormones were raging on your big day! We do think you look incredible, an advertisement for impending motherhood IOHO!

We feel terrible about missing the event; it is now forever marked on the cybercalendar, so you will not be able to escape TP's Birthday greetings henceforth. Hah!

Sending a big belated burfday hug,
tp & tsu

PS: isn't there a thing with your spouse and shoes? As in a "one pair is all i need at one time'' kind of thing?

Jeepers, you're one hot mama. Happy belated! You look gorgeous in that dress. And love the story about your birthday. I cannot believe you're 42. You look so young. I'm approaching mid-30s and in total denial about it.
