Swarovski for Spring: A Sparkling Aura

It's going to be a special weekend at Swarovski on 34th Street. Not only are the new Spring 2012 jewelry collections blooming, but the boutique will also be celebrating the US fragrance launch. Yes, Swarovski fragrance! I'm thinking odoriferous fabulousness redolent of sparkling, shimmering baubles. You? And Friday night we can all spray ourselves with Swarovski's Aura, as the boutique is throwing a party.

Swarovski's New Pirates of the Caribbean Collection

There's a very limited amount of each piece, so if you're a fan, go buy soon.

May 20th is the official release date of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. But you can get your Pirates Swarovski jewelry on 34th Street now. See those skull charms and swords up there? Yes, those are shots from the store at 34th and 7th Avenue.

It's these lovelies, below, you'll have to wait for till Friday the 20th, the film release date. They are replicas of the cross pendant worn by Penelope Cruz and the ring worn by Johnny Depp in the film.

I'm actually a little scared that I would buy both of these. I usually don't go in for Disney-themed jewelry, even if it is all about pirates and Johnny Depp and Penelope. But that gold cross is pretty damn perfect. I'm seriously tempted.

UGG Australia Takes Manhattan

I"ll be post-dating a lot of our final fashion week coverage because my weekend turned into a sick-fest as opposed to a work-fest. But for today, which I spent home sick with a sick Baby Herald (see? sick-fest!), I'm sharing these limited edition, one-of-a-kind UGGs I first saw a sample of last fall at the UGG store opening on Madison:

Now these boots, $800, are available in stores but only in the Manhattan UGG stores on Madison, the Upper West Side, and Soho. And what's that on the boot? Yes, the Empire State Building outlined in Swarovski crystals! Of course the Empire State Building is on 34th Street, and so is Swarovski. To buy these special UGGs you'll have to go off 34th Street. But the Swarovski boutique can satisfy all your Austrian crystal needs. And I believe UGG Australia is making special, limited-edition boots for other major US cities, so if you're not in NYC, keep an eye out at your UGG boutique for an iconic urban image made with Swarovski crystals.

Swarovski's Red Dress Event

We're not just celebrating Horace Greeley's birthday tomorrow down on 34th Street. There's also a fabulous Swarovski event in the evening to celebrate National Wear Red Day (helps raise awareness for women and heart disease). Every year, Swarovski participates in The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection 2011 Fashion Show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. But I love that the boutique does a more personal "teaser" event before the big show. And speaking of the big show, tomorrow night at the Swarovski boutique you can register for a chance to win two tickets to attend the show at Lincoln Center! We're talking lots of celebrity models walking crazy down the runway. Big fun.

Big fun also equals hanging out at Swarovski tomorrow evening on 34th Street, sipping heart healthy red wine, eating heart healthy Godiva chocolates, and getting a photo of you, posing on the red carpet for the "paparazzi," decked out in Swarovski jewels and accessories. If you make a purchase, you can take that picture home with you in a crystallized frame (left). The first offerings of Swarovski's spring collection.

Have faith, spring will come! And if you doubt it for a second, drop by Swarovski Penn Plaza, that gorgeous boutique at 34th Street and 7th Avenue, for a peak at their first new, shiny offerings for spring. It's all beautiful butterflies and color, and what is more spring than that?

Best 34th Street Gifts Day 8: Last-Minute Swarovski Bling

Today Intern Craig visits the gorgeous Swarovski boutique on 34th & 7th for some last-minut gift shopping.

In your rush to evacuate the city before Christmas, be sure to stop by the Swarovski store at the entrance to Penn Station on 7th Avenue. While this isn't the most frugal place to grab gifts, the giftee will surely remember it forever.

I think jewelry can be somewhat impersonal unless you absolutely know the person's taste. Yet, Swarovski will certainly have you covered. Enjoy this great wall of rings. There is an assortment from the subtle but classic, to the big and bright. Take your pick.

If you're scared to rock the boat with something as particular as a ring, you can opt for a set like the above, which is perfectly priced at $100. Both pieces are timeless so this is a great present for mom, girlfriend, aunt, and any other female on your list.

I've left the best for last and to say that I squealed like that pig on the right is an understatement: SWAROVSKI ANIMAL FLASH DRIVES. I'm always losing my flash drives but you better believe that I will attach it to my body if I had a Swarovski one. How can you resist that turtle?

Don't be afraid to check out Swarovski even if you're done with your shopping. Sometimes it's nice to just look at something pretty for a while. Enjoy!

Swarovski Open on 34th Street

Swarovski opened one of their "Crystal Forest" stores (one of two in Manhattan) this past weekend on 34th Street, and I am not exaggerating when I say the new store totally brightens up the corner of 34th and 7th Avenue.

And here's a big bonus: Swarovski refurbished Tourneau's old digital clocks (pictured below, one faces north and one faces east). Tourneau was the former tenant in the space, and commuters and visitors alike relied upon the digital timepieces to keep them on track for Penn Station trains and as a point of rendezvous. So a big thanks to Swarovski for saving the clocks!

Inside the store is a fun collection of Swarovski jewelry, watches, home accessories, and decor objects. There are adorable and colorful charms galore. I've got my eye on these ducks figurines (below, $100 per) because Baby Herald is seriously into ducks right now. Did you know rubber duckies really do stop bath time tears? Huh, and I thought it was just a classic song.

Goodbye Luxury Watches, Hello, Austrian Crystals

Tourneau on 34th Street and 7th Avenue has packed up and left, leaving the ghost trails of luxury watch counters and a sad Rolex sign behind.

So what can put the sparkle back in Rolex? Swarovsk, of coursei! According to our sources, a Swarovski boutique will be filling Tourneau's big luxury shoes. Welcome, crystal heaven. Ages ago, I coveted a Swarovski navel ring because Naomi Campbell had one. Oh, how things change. Now she's famous for playing catch with phones covered in Swarovski crystals and other sundry means of keeping staff in check. And my belly ring-wearing days came to a halt around month seven of pregnancy. Maybe, when the new store opens, I'll go buy myself some crystal adornment with Baby Herald in tow for nostalgia's sake. And, of course, to celebrate the arrival of a shiny new addition to 34th Street.

Update: article in WWD today (March 4th) says the Swarovski store on 34th Street will be their new retail concept, Crystal Source.
