Cruel Winter

I knew it would happen someday. There I was, trying on discounted Monogram clothing at Banana Republic, when "Cruel Summer" from Bananarama came on. The dressing room attendant say "Oh, Bananarama, I love this song!" and started singing along. Today, at the Banana on 34th Street, destiny came calling.

The clothes, maybe not so much.

I'm a cupcake in this top ($46.99*). The pants are so marked down ($25.99) but yuk, bad hanging at the hem. And no, they aren't sailor pants.

Mother of the Bride ($64.99) and The Waiter ($89.99).

A cruel winter for me and Monogram? Not entirely. The below are deals:

Click for pleating, very nice ($49.99). Love the sweet beige top ($47.99), and of course I love the black tuxedo blouse ($46.99) that's long enough to be my man's.

*take another 30% off already reduced prices.

They're even eating bananas in this video. And n
ow I want boxing shoes and a mechanic's jumpsuit.

Banana Republic,
17 W. 34th Street between 5th & 6th

Oh, I love that song! I remember when it was new just like it was yesterday.

I really like the mother of the bride dress, although it looks a little big on you, skinny mini!

The waiter jacket looks really on you actually! Don't turn it down! Hehe. =)

When is this Alice + Olivia giveaway ending? I need to know so I can reign in my anticipation. Hahaha.

I used to want to dress just like Bananarama.

I had those overalls and I wore a Bananarama head band when I wasn't working my Ska/English Beat look. Memories!;-)

I actually really like the 'waiter' blazer lol. And whenever I hear banana I always think of Bananas In Pyjamas!

Uh oh. Better go wack myself upside the head: I LOVE that mother-of-the-bride dress.

Additionally, I had several babysitters who dressed as if they were the missing members of Bananarama. I thought they were cooler than the actual band members by far.

The pleated top is v. nice.

And bananarama (gosh, that's a handful to type) may have just inspire some drunken table dancing once. Maybe.

i had no idea that BR had monogram stuff. just goes to show how often i shop in there. i'm curious: how different is it in quality from regular BR stuff?

eeps - it's definitely two steps up and on the conservative side. i like it as it's on the first floor by the staircase in mens, and it does look very guy-tailoring-like.
blazer and mob lovers - i know, it's a lovely, really perfect dress! and kind of a great basic for a wardrobe. best it has pockets. but the white blazer i could not get into. what can you wear it with without looking like a caterer?
