Desigual Open on 34th Street

Desigual, another welcome addition to 34th Street, has flung open its doors and was open for business last Saturday. Have I visited? Not yet as I was out of town this past weekend, but soon I'll be hitting the Spanish retailer's dressing rooms. For those of you not familiar with the brand, it's known for its bold color, prints, and patterns. Meaning for those of us addicted to black it's a whole different game. But spring is a good time to put some color in a girl's wardrobe, so be sure to give it a go next time you're shopping 34th Street.

Gap Herald Square Polo Event

Today, tomorrow, and Sunday all men's and women's polos are just $15 at Gap. Ans not only are the polos on sale, but, at the Herald Square store, the photos are free, too. Gap Herald Square has a photo booth in the store for their polo event, and customers can take free photos! So stock up on some polos for spring and then get a picture of you modeling them.

Green and BOGO'd at Payless 34th Street

Yes, I do wait for the ever-impending BOGO 1/2 off Payless sale to pick up basic flats and pumps to beat up for the summer. The very green pump will be BOGO'd along with the alice+olivia sparkle-overload flat. The blue and yellow are quite the colors, too, but the green caught my eye first. BOGO'ing should bring my total to around $36.47.






Katie BOGO'd the other day, also, when she did her annual spring flat shopping. These are by American Eagle also. Right is me in the green flats.
















I'm also wearing my old red Abaete flats, which are sadly too small post-pregnancy and really hurt. No sign of Abaete in Payless this season. Has the collab ended? And how about Patricia Field for Payless? I've got inquiries in regarding both. Although the Abaete's were disappointing the last few seasons, the Patricia Field's were always fun.

Practically Free Boyfriend Shirt

Tedious, my going on and on about this white boyfriend shirt from JCPenney's she said, but I dropped by JCPenney Manhattan Mall today to finally buy it. I was expecting it to be $17.99, the clearance price listed and confirmed by the price-check scanner (addictive!). But at the register it became $5.97. I then asked the clerk several times "Really? It's just $5?" How quickly $5.97 turns to $5.00 in my shopping brain. And because I had saved so much money, I ran to infants to get Baby Herald something.*

Moral of this shopping story: Go to JCPenney and help them move out their clearance because now it's all practically free.

Studs and Mamas

Jeff picked up this shirt ($29.95) last week at H&M, and I love it. If red plaid doesn't say "studly" I'll eat his shirt. Well, I won't eat it but I may at least pick one up for myself. I'm a big fan of plaid, especially as my husband's plaid shirts were my go-to comfort shirts during pregnancy. FH readers know my favorite maternity wear was H&M Mama, so it's not surprising that I still visit the Mama section at the Herald Square store on occasion. For old (huge belly) time's sake.

If you've got a pregger pal, this is a brilliant starter gift ($29.95). I'll admit that I still now, yes six months post-delivery, pull out the H&M Mama leggings. And to have the long tank and the band to cover the belly is key. H&M Mama prices also make it possible to buy several maternity pieces, trendy and classic, without worrying about the cost for what is, essentially, temporary clothing. Unless, of course, you can't retire the leggings.

Stella in Gap Herald Square

Yesterday I visited the Stella McCartney for GapKids at Gap Herald Square. Above is a selection of some looks available in the Herald Square store, and below are some of my picks. I love the collection, especially as a lot of it is unisex. Baby Herald wears a lot of her nephew's hand-me-downs, so we're already wearing unisex.

For those of you shopping for your petite selves, I still saw some XXL's, so run quick to Herald Square and check them out. But if I was fantasy shopping for Baby Herald, I'd stock up on the below:

Two items I want: check jacket, $68, and butterfly sweater, $58.












I just told a co-worker to get this for a baby shower: the dinosaur unzips and there are superhero pajamas (? or top+bottom) inside. I've got three nephews under the age of 8, anything dinosaur-designed is a big hit. I would also get the striped one-piece ($48), it's drop-crotch!












What I got Baby Herald: sneakers, below, from last season, on sale for $12.95. On the right are the sneakers for this season.










From what I hear, the anchor sweaters and the crochet dress are going fast. Also, the superhero T for the boys. Again, if you're interested in those items, I'd get to Gap Herald Square before the weekend crowds descend on Midtown Manhattan.
