Donate For Big Things

I've been sweating the little things for days now: my clothes suck, I'm ancient, my hair isn't shiny, I don't have cute open-toed boots for fall. Fashion week, as Xmastime says, has a tendency to "suck the life out of you" the minute you step foot inside the tents. And makes you feel like a poorly dressed troll.

But then the other day I visited the lovely Wendy Brandes's blog, and read about this; here is an update. Wendy, a jewelry designer, has started an online auction to benefit blogger Stephanie Nielson (left, with her family), aka NieNie, who was injured in a small plane crash last month. NieNie's husband Christian was burned over 30% of his body, and Stephanie was burned over 80% of hers. She will be undergoing treatment for months. Please visit Wendy's site and bid on Wendy's beautiful Diana necklace in sterling silver. All proceeds go to help the Nielson family cope with medical and other expenses.

I'd like to quote Wendy here: " Trust me -- nothing else in your wardrobe is going to make you feel as good as this necklace will." And haven't you heard about the wonderful anti-aging benefits of philanthropy? I think it makes your hair shiny, too. So give Nie Nie a hand. And if you're like me, and your bank account can't handle the bidding, click on the "Donate to NieNie" button on Wendy's blog. Again, click here to read more about NieNie and to bid or donate. And let's hear it for Wendy's generosity in organizing this amazing auction and spreading the word. Kind of puts things in perspective and helps you stop sweating the little things, right?

Thank you for your help! I am thrilled if people who can't afford to bid (we're now at $1K) will keep mentioning the auction so I can find the HUGE bidder of my dreams. And as you said, anyone can contribute any amount directly to NieNie's fund, without making a bid. But I also want to say to peeps, don't beat yourselves up for sweating the small stuff. I think it's a total luxury when life is good enough that we can afford to sweat the small stuff, and we should all be thrilled when we can do so. Now I'll go back to worrying about my age, kthxbai.
