My Favorite Lela Rose Yet: Fall '12

I've been to a lot of Lela Rose's shows in the past, and this one was by far my favorite, not because it was my daughter's first show (see photo at end), but because the clothes delivered a strong, clear message: I am a woman, I'm sometimes ladylike, and I am freaking strong. Helen Reddy on her soundtrack probably would have been a little over-the-top, yes?

Socks with heels, you know I'm a fan. And let's not forget, we'll be seeing the shoes at Payless on 34th Street.

Yes, I'm interested in the designer's inspiration (in this case, the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, and in the past painter Alex Katz), but I'm really into the connection one feels for the clothes (or doesn't) at a live show. And Lela had me from the opening to the finale.

I wanted to share almost every photo from the collection, I was that impressed with each and every look. Even the sheer pieces conveyed strength and confidence. Also, it might just be me, but I saw Downton Abbey in the dark red and maroon pieces, the gorgeous embroidery detail in some of the dresses, and that fabulous hair (hello, Lady Mary). Architecture, Downton, whatever, Lela Rose has nailed fall 2012.

All photos are from mbfashionweek.com. Except for the one below, which is from my iPhone.

She wouldn't let go of her seat assignment, smart girl. We were also clapping, horrors!
